1st gen vs lci

So after a few months with the LCI I thought I would note things that I’ve noticed and I wonder if any of them are just in my head or any of them factual.

Switches inside seem to be better quality. More “clicky”
Steering feels better. Can’t describe it better than that.

Wireless charging still crap.

Other than a few cosmetics…..not much difference.

I was just wondering about how you were finding the new car, good to know the steering has improved. What about the new safety features, how much of a pain are they?

Wireless charging overheats my IPhone running CarPlay causing it to cut out on a long journey, so need to plug in to charge or use car satnav.

Sars the intelligent safety stuff was driving me mad but I have now managed to get my individual settings configured the way I want them. You do need to switch it every time you get in but it's easy enough.

Thankfully mine is just before that latest nanny state intrusion.

Mine was made just just before the latest nanny state crud, but I have it on individual settings.
The steering is improved in my view, but I don’t have any concrete proof of that. Someone might have part numbers that are different in the steering department…..or not!

Also adding that the thunder might purple does show the dirt more than the misano blue did.

Surely able to set one of the favourite keys to do that?

Mine has the green/amber button on the dash that switches the driving “aids” off, the active lane assist in particular is useless, it’s not accurate enough to use for lane following, because lane markings are often so poor you cant rely on it to correct the car.

Despite inadequate technology we do enjoy the Z4 the main issue is we are driving too many miles in it.

The steering is definitely sharper, first thing I noticed, I actually thought it might be down to worn-out/tired components on previous one it was that noticeable

Same on my X5, you would have thought with all that space they could have made it slightly less overheating.

It could be down to worn components on older car, only way we can find out is if someone digs deep with part numbers.
If it is down to wear, I would like to know which components so we can maintain it properly!
