1st Deep Clean

Ok, so had the new zed a couple of weeks now. Gave her a deep clean yesterday for the first time.

Process:

Rinse
Wash - two buckets, 2 mits (body and wheels), Simoniz Triple Action Wash & Wax
Rinse
Meguiars clay bar and quick detailer
Rinse
Auto Glym Super Resin Polish - x3 layers
Poorboys Black Hole - x2 layers
Poorboys Nattys paste wax - x1 layer

All done by hand. My back is killing today. The shallow swirls have been filled nicely, and the car is up to a good standard.

Later this year, I'm going to use an abrasive compound to take the deeper swirls out, with a DA polisher.

Apologies for the crap photos, the light in the underground car park is pants.

She was reasonably clean to start with

Think your car is clean after a wash? Think again......!

If only it hadn't been raining I'd have taken her outside for some better pictures. The indoor ones don't do her justice.

Anyhoo - I think she's in a better state than my last zed now, and I'm looking forward to some DA action later this year to take the remaining swirls out

looking good, much better than your previous Z - but I would just hand it over to a detailer for a few days to machine polish and spend some proper TLC on it

Some fab pictures there and your lucky you can get washing it due to your car park. I'm still waiting to get mines done. Best keep it inside unless you really need to take it out and continue to admire its good looks

Very nice Adam

Kind of in the ranski camp regarding getting a professional to do it... But I keep thinking it'd be satisfying to do it myself too.

What's that mitt you're using ? I am in need of a new one...

Good effort - cheaper than a gym membership

Looking forward to seeing your new coupe - will you ever want to take it out in this weather!?

:driving:

I'm going to do a DIY detail with a DA polisher instead later this year. There's something satisfying about doing it yourself. If I cock it up, it'll be into a detailer PDQ

Just a micro fibre mit. Keep meaning to get a lambswool one. Planning to get some DA pads, new mits etc for the proper detail later this year.

I have a lambs wool 'Wookie's fist' - was great, however to keep it in tip top condition you need to treat it like a pet and brush it all out every time you use it. This is something I cannot be assed with and it now has large matted clumps

Looks great buddy. I have lots of detailing gear such as da polisher and 3 layers of resin polish must have taken some serious effort ! Paid off though!

That's some excellent work going on there.

She looks like she'll scrub up really well in the daylight!

Quite a process there Adam.

How long did the whole thing take?

Just need to get some Autosol on the exhausts now

5 hours - but I had a break half way through.....

Yeah the exhausts desperately need done, but I didn't have any Autosol. It's a job for next weekend 8)

I'm with you Adam, DIY with a DA. You can't do any damage unless you are really stupid, and it saves a fortune. For a Scot that has to be a bonus.

I'm looking to do mine when the weather improves.
