So I have finally got my Zed :driving: :driving: Love it!!

Couple of things that have come up:

Spare key doesn't work remotely...will this recharge? I have spoke to a BMW Specialist but they said i would have to go to BMW and get a new key is this right?
Also the Tyre pressure gauge has come on as the car is running Falken 453's, can this be overwritten or change the sensor so this doesn't come on, agai the specialist i spoke too said i just have to live with it.

Needless to say this specialist hasn't filled me with confidence, as he just couldn't help...Cromptons Automotive in bolton...any reviews???

Any help is appreciated!

Hi Derry,

Welcome!

I'm sure someone on here will know the answers to all of those!

With regards to the spare, I don't know if it will charge it from dead, but if you drive with the dead key I believe it recharges then.
But I'm not sure what happens with a totally flat one. Worth trying at least having both with you and keeping the flat one in the ignition.

The Tyre pressure button has to be held for ~10seconds I think, the Tyre symbol will come up on the dash then go off again. Or at least should do. That should reset it.
I've only had my car 6months and had one tyre go flat which my sensors didn't detect. However I am not sure if this is becuase they were never reset last time, or if mine have been disconnected like you suggest.
So maybe it is possible to get that done, but for me it would of been done by a previous owner.

Best of luck with your issues.

Hi Welcome,

Key could need charging, use it for a while see what happens? If not your need a replacement :x

You can reset the tyre calibration, just hold the button (centre console, by ash tray) in for a few seconds (10) and it should reset!

Enjoy!

Terry

Not sure about the key.

The tyre pressure light can be reset by stopping in the car. And holding down the button until the light goes out. If it comes back on so things wrong. Obviously check your tyre pressures as well.

Cheers Guys when i hold it down it will turn yellow and then go on again :/

Could this mean I have an issue on new tyres that all had 34psi in?

Could be a sensor issue....

Are you sure the key is dead, it could have just gone out of sync and needs resyncing with the ecu. You can do this yourself, theres a guide on here:

You could try this with your keys, it worked for me...

The specialist sounds like a cowboy, it doesn't matter what tyres your using, the tyre guage is for a flat tyre. You need to pump them up to the correct pressure, turn the ignition so the lights are on, press and hold run flat button until it illuminates on dash in orange and drive away. It should then extinguish, if it doesn't, you either have a flat tyre or a tech fault, like a sensor.

Thanks Guys!!

Drove another 30 mile with the tyre sensor switched off before setting off.

No problems :)

Key couldn't be programmed. Maybe still dead will use it for the next week and periodically try to program it :)

If not I will pop into my local dealer.

How often are people clearing their roof drains, and how long do we give the car to warm up before using all the horses?

If you use an electric toothbrush, leave it on there.

They key uses induction charging and some have claimed it works.

i wouldnt hammer it until at least ten miles, the temp gauge is for the coolant-the oil takes longer to heat up.

I wonder if it might be worth getting your tyres refitted. A friend (its always a friend!) had problems with his light coming on and it turned out to be grit / dirt in the beading that caused the problem rather than censors. So, tyres off, a good clean around the tyres and rims and then back on again.

Hope you are enjoying the car :driving:

I actually have an iPad install in my dash and have dash command so I have oil and water readouts.

Re the tyres my friend has a garage and will be whipping the the tyres off and sanding down next week when his boss isn't in haha.

I have my second key working now too :)

Thanks for everything guys!
