£1K tax on "Gas Guzzlers"

Just read that Mr Darling has decided to impose a "green" tax on new cars in band G :thumbsdown:

So will you be put off buying a car in this band, or just say sod the thieving t*@ts and continue to enjoy our passion?

I can't imagine this will do much for the incredibly strong Z4M residuals :(

Looks like it'll only affect the first year though, before reverting back down to £400 :roll: so current owners will be OK.
 
Yeah only on new cars, but as the Z4M is still in production new owners will be hit, still not going to do anything for second hand prices.

How a cars emissions has anything to do with maintaining the UK road network is beyond me anyhow :headbang:

If anything it would encourage me to buy one sooner rather than later, I can only see owning cars like ours getting even dearer in the future :cry: and I'm going to make the most of them whilst I can afford to :driving:
 
Just another tax that in this case it sounds good for the environment, hits the supposed wealthy, raises a bit of money and probably won't affect buyers one bit. Cynical I'm afraid these days
 
Even more reason to buy an ex-fleet/demo/press/management car I guess! Not only do you get a nice deal (my Z4MC was ex-demo and at 3 months old saved me over £7k from list!), but you won't be the first person to pay this extortionate tax rate!
 
Surely my gas guzzling perfectly running engine is still better for the environment than a 15 year old 150k miles ford pumping out more oil than CO2.

We should pay for our own emissions, if your cars engine is in bad health then you pay the big fees, my M is oly a sunny day toy covering a few thou miles PA, not a daily runner hence my gripe....... :x
PS. My other car is an Audi A2 Tdi doing upto 81 mpg so that is offsetting my carbon footprint :D
