19" Wheels on E86

Thinking about upgrading the factory 17s still with runflats to maybe something like 19s CSLs.
Quick question for the people that do have 19s on their coupes, what is the ride like?
I am just afraid that it will be really rough, so maybe I should go 18s instead.

Any comments?

Mine has 19" CSL reps and is pretty rough, but I have nothing else to compare it to. My previous car was a 5 series running 17" wheels so it's no surprise this feels more harsh!

I suppose it's also down to the condition of the roads.
What's it like over bumps? Head through the roof?
I'm thinking 17s and RFLs is already bad so perhaps 19s with non-RFL is the same? I could live with that.

The ride will be harder, but feels planted. Steering will be heavier, I cant really help because mine is lowered too. Its hard but not unusable.

its softer then 18" bridgestone runflats :lol:
I had 17" non runflats on my previous z4 and that was still a bumpy ride

Yeah I don't expect it to be as smooth as 16" on a 5 series but I just don't want it to be so bad that I would need to go down a size later.

Right! I passed from 17" runflat to 19" standard and I was not feeling it worse.

A friend has 19s in his Z so I think a joy ride is required for testing

I went from 18" MV's with run flats to 19" Cades, I have no complaints about the ride but I have found a very light rubbing

19" CSLs and very low in mine and the ride is still excellent since moving from 18" run flats.
It's even less crashy as runflats are solid.

No rubbing, but only because the rear has stretched tyres. They would probably rub if proper width tyres were on it. Current setup is:

Front: 235/35/19
Rear: 265/30/19

I am actually thinking of selling them and getting some 18" MV2s, much as I like the look of the 19" CSLs I don't like stretched tyres or the possibility of rubbing.

And there's no way to put proper 19 size at the back? Spacers or something (unless it's rubbing above)?

I have the same tyres on 8.5 and 9.5 wide wheels and the tyres are fine!

This. I run the exact same set up, and I wouldn't consider the tyres "stretched" at all. Granted, I could be using wider tyres and I'd have more sidewall, but we're not talking about anything out of the ordinary as they are now. There's a pic below...

And for info, I went from 18 run-flats, to 19 non run-flat. The ride got better if anything, and the handling improved. And I have no rubbing issues, except very occasionally on full-lock and on an uneven surface. Certainly nothing to worry about. I say do it.
