I have both in standard non run flat format with standard m sport suspension and do notice a difference. I have Yokohama on the 19s and Avon’s on the 18’s.

The 19s follow the road more and are a little bit more noisy. Under very heavy breaking the car squirms around more with the bigger wheels.

For looks it’s 19s and they are fine but for performance 18s are spot on.

This is my opinion Based on experience of 6000 miles driving so others may have different thoughts.

Had my wheels changed this morning from 18inch to 19inch. If anything my drive back through Huddersfield, where the roads are awful, felt more comfortable than with the 18s. Though this could be something to do with the new tyres.

How is that possible? I noticed a big difference, for the worse, when I put 19's on. I actually tried to get them refurbished but the guy showed me how out of balance they were, aswell as being buckled in a few places!

Have to say I noticed little to no difference. The condition of your suspension components will have much more of an effect, if shocks, bushes, ball joints, etc are worn or generally rubbish then bigger wheels will exasperate it.

The past 5 months with my E86 Si i have switched from 18s to 19s & back to the tune of at least 3 sets of each as with all Zs & wheels ive had its not the 18 V 19 size you notice , its the tyre brand , tread depth , size & pressures that you notice .
Its noticeably better riding 19s with 255 35 19 rear than 18s on 255 35 , its also better with a softer tyre like Uniroyal RS3 than a harder tyre like a Bridgestone Rf .
You can easily step up to 19s without it compromising comfort , just choose the tyres with some consideration

I think you are correct Mr Wilks. The tyres on my 18 inch wheels were P Zero Rosso which don’t appear to have the best rating for comfort. In addition once the wheels were off I discovered the rears were well worn to say the least. I’m sure this is the reason why the 19 inch wheels appear to be better.
