18" BBS 108s for sale *JUST REFURBED*

Im fully refurbishing a set of 18" 5 spoke BBS split rims which are for a BMW Z4. I refurbish alloy wheels for a living at a well renound alloy wheels refurbishers. These Wheels have a powder coated and powder laquered centre and the outers will be polished unless the buyer would like something differrent ie black centres with bright green outers etc. I can get a perfect colour match to the original manufacturers finish if desired. The sizes are 8x18 for the front and 8.5x18 for the rears. I can supply 2 part worn front tyres at no extra cost.

I am asking £600 for the set if the outers are polished or £550 if the outers are to be powder coated.

Colours to choose from include the following
Gloss Black
Matt Black
Gloss White
Anthracite
Blood Red
Bright Green
Lambo Orange
Aquamarine Blue
BMW Silver
Black Chrome
Smoked Chrome
The chrome finishes are a silver wet paint over a black powder base coat which gives shadowing into the back of the spoke. The smoked chrome is slightly darker to the black chrome.

Thanks. Dan

I know I've dug this one out of the annuls of time but are these still up for grabs? :D

Playalistic - that's just a trader offering an overpriced set of rims. You can do way better than that.

What are you looking for?

Might have a set up for grabs in a few days time

Ah, cheers for the pointer. I have a set of 108's already that are pretty corroded. Quite fancied the idea of a refurb and powder coating maybe...

BMW charge £420 and that is professionally dipped in acid etc. all the inners redone and the outer rim polished and they said shouldnt corrode again.

dont believe a word of it regarding "shouldnt corrode again"

Phoenix Motorsport are brilliant guys, based in Camberley - they do alloy refurbs - really top notch quality. give Gerry a bell on 01276 27711.

If you already ahave a set your well ont he way

I'd forget BMW direct as they always use locals to do the job. My buddy does all the local Bimmer, Merc shops.

Depending on the finish I woudl expect unless kerbed you'd get a good polish lip, spray inner and colour the star for £75 per wheel.

You'll never stop corrossion - the price to py for a split rim, but done well and wit maintenance no reason why they won't last well

Take a rim to one of the suggested places. Talk colours and numbers and see what you can get. It'll be a better price and deal than an email or phone quote.

I'm too far off else I'd point you to my contact who can work wonders on alloy

Might be worth using CJs contact and sending the wheels by courier as i tried alot of places and the local garages that were considered cheap were quoting in the region of £175 per wheel with the cheapest one wanting £120 per wheel. Most people i spoke to didnt really want to do them. Also maybe CJ can confirm but BMW said they would replace all the nuts etc too (im not sure if this is standard for a split rim).

People I've spoken to have always wanted over £1.50 per bolt for changing them - supposedly they are made of titanium?

Cj - who do you use to do your refurbs? Assume someone in west mids?

I use 1st class alloys at www.1stclassalloys.co.uk Started as a refer to him for business and we developed a friendship. He now does experimental things on wheels with me, supplies tyres at the best rates anywhere (beats internet prices) and as a car enthusiasts gets things perfect.
If you want anything let me know and I'll speak to Paul.

Ref the point about changing bolts. I have never heard of anyone changing them. As noted above they are in the £1.50+ so that would be £120 min for a set, if you can even find them.

CJ - last year someone on here had a problem getting new/replacement bolts. I contacted a few dealers who had old 108s from warranty replacement who were prepared to split the 'scrap' rims for the bolts (and no charge). Nobody took up the offer.....!

Alan - Sure - I can get bolts easily enough the same way and actually supplied someone on here with a couple of spares from 1st class alloys that had a handful.

The point I was making is that wheel refurbers cannot readily get them that way and due to cost it is prohibitive to buy them. Equally can you imagine the legal bill if a refurber used second hand bolts from a scrap wheel and something happened....

That was me :). Two of the bolts were corroded into the wheel and rounded off with very little pressure and required drilling out. Of course, finding replacement bolts was a major ballache but I got there in the end with CJ supplying me with a couple . The best option is what you say though Alan - taking from scrap wheels. The bolts from the BBS alloys on mk4 Golfs are identical so it's not just limited to searching for BMW 108 alloys.

for £420 BMW Sytner in Chigwell (who probably outsource to a local company) were going to dip in acid etc and replace all the bolts and polish outer lip...and magically stop corroding again (i would rather kick up a fuss with bmw when alloys corrode, more likely to get a goodwill gesture than private garage).
