20mm spacers arrived today, I'll fit them as soon as the temperatures drops low enough, then I'll finally get to see what the car looks like with 108's.
As for the idea of putting stresses on the axle, I'm sure using spaces to set an incorrect offset won't create too much additional stress if any. The tyre will be basically in the same place and just the spokes will be offset from the standard wheel. I can understand putting spacers on standard wheels may have a bad effect but in this case I'm not so sure it will be a problem.
