Ok need a bit of advice please as thinking of getting my 108s refurbed, how much roughly should I expect to pay and any recommendations,I’m based near Stansted airport,Ta
Have they ever been apart as they are split rims and all that have done them say it’s a real pain. I think Ame Wilks has done a few. Price is higher as there’s eight pieces to do and because of the threaded holes most powder coaters won’t give any warranty that they won’t corrode.
my 108 s cost £75 a wheel ( repeat customer) they stripped them with no problems, just said that some of the bolts may snap and need drilling out (that's not the technical term they used) so could cost more ,luckily all was fine with mine ,took them two days and i'm well happy they go on this weekend
I split the last set I had done myself, about 45 mins. I then dropped them to the refurbishers with the tyres on. They removed the tyres and refurbed the outers in mirror chrome powder, inners in OEM silver. They then refitted they tyres. I rebuilt them, another 45 mins.
Cost was £180 all in, and they looked superb..
[ref]bz4kev[/ref] also split his, and had them done at City Wheels in Birmingham, for £25 per wheel, in duo tone..
Theres a company in Gilligham Kent, Lepsons, who refurbed my old 108`s, did an excellent job, the do a collection service as well, prices for the split rims are on their website to give you an idea - http://www.lepsons.com/
Mine were collected from CJ Powder Coatings in Grimsby Lincs. this week, bright silver barrels and centres done Sterling Grey to match the car. New tyres down the road a bit, along with Black/Silver carbon badges all round.
Very happy with the job done for £275. I split the rims and had to drill the top off one bolt, easy job using quality Cobalt drill bit. The powder coaters rebuilt them for me as they're easier to collect and carry. They plug the holes with silicon plugs. Got the torque figure for the bolts from BBS in the USA, very helpful people. I ran a 7mm tap down all 80 holes to make sure the threads were all good before taking them to be done. Sent a small bottle of Stud lock to apply a drop on each bolt as they were fitted.
