As per the title.
I've been an stern supporter of the BMW insured warranty having claimed probably in excess of £3-4K over the past 4 years. However I find myself slightly frustrated today. Booked the car in as it was missfiring badly under load. I knew it was likely to be an ignition coil but thought I'm paying for the warranty so may as well use it.
Now when I took out the warranty I opted for the £100 excess to keep the premium down (my own fault). I got a call from the dealer today confirming that it was a single ignition coil, they will only replace the one coil not all (I did try and argue best practice etc). Long and short of if is that its costing me £100 for a single coil replacement... Pretty sure I could replace all 6 for not much more. I did argue the point that someone not paying £40 a month for the warranty would get the coil replaced for less than £100 but apparently they charge £135 for the first our of diagnosis (go figure). So actually I am better off.
Thursday rant over.
