1 Series Help

Hey People,

My sister is currently on the hunt for a 1 series, had a look at a 2010 116D 5 door with ///M trim over the weekend which was pretty nice and tidy but didn't have bluetooth nor cruise control which she does use a lot on her current A1. she likes the 116D as it's pretty much same tax as her A1 (£20 a year)

So how economical is it to retrofit OEM parts to add those function or what are the best aftermarket options? i know of the parrot system for example but never used one myself tbh.

and also if anyone knows of a good ones for sale anywhere that would be appreciated :D budget is around £10.5k and likes the dark blue (not sure what the official colour is) and also any common issues to look out for.

so ummm yeh....HELP? haha Cheers

You can install a parrot system and hide all gubbins and use the steering wheel control if you buy the basic one.

Cruise control isn't an easy or cheap install Im afraid.

I'd wait and buy one with cruise control. Have you looked at 118d £30 tax and more poke than 116d.

Go have a look on www.babybmw.net it's an amazing forum with some really knowledgeable people on and they will be able to answer your questions in more detail.

Hope this helps

Ash

Before anyone else says I am going to post on babybmw.com it's just i know a few of you have or have had a 1 series
thought well i'm already here I might as well through it out there

As above cruise control your looking at spending about £700 for a dealer to fit. Parts, labour and coding to the car plus it lacks the self braking function ie it's at 40mph and your going down hill so it slightly applies the brakes but retro fitting doesn't or so I was advised by the dealer when I enquired for my E88. One dealership cost it in at £550 as they had an offer on labour for parts another quoted £1200 and this was 5 years ago.

You'd have to end up ideally fitting a parrot system for Bluetooth. Only issues I would have is the trim squeaks and rattles enough without taking it to bits.

Ideally I'd hang on if possible to find the spec wanted instead if buying what she doesn't really want and adding to it. Adding these things won't add any more value so best to get them on the car.
