Hi I have an 06 pre-facelift which was originally a Japanese grey import. I'd like to replace the OEM minidisk setup to get DAB radio, bluetooth phone and ideally a CD player - without spending a fortune. I don't use bluetooth to stream music (yes I'm a dinosaur).
Current setup is an OEM business minidisk player head unit, 6 cd changer in centre console (not working - can't extract the cassette), nav system (useless), and the pop-up screen is pretty poor - doesn't pop up so is now permanently stuck up and whilst it's legible, screen colours are off. I think it has some form of built in phone function (S646?). It has the 10 speaker non-carver S676 amp.
I don't need the multi-cd changer - though if it is easy to get to work I could live with it.
- Suggestions on how to extract cd multichanger cassette? it appears to be missing the eject button... then to test will presumably need a new cassette...
- Can I simply replace the head unit with a standard modern unit which gives all the required features and it connect to the amp? Suggested head units and harnesses appreciated.
- Alternatively, could I swap the minidisk player to an oem cd unit and then replace the pop up screen with an android unit?
- I understand I'll need to upgrade the ariel to support DAB. Any guidance?
