05 28i drivers door won't lock and says its open

Hi All,

I recently had my Z4 serviced at the local garage. I got in it for the first time today only to discover that when I drive it, the central info screen tells me the drivers door is open. I can also see the window hasn't gone all the way up like it normally does... i.e. drops a bit when you open the door, then closes up when you close it. I also note that the door open courtesy light is permanently on.

If I press the lock button nothing happens. If I lock the door manually with the key and then press unlock the door unlocks (but the window stays in the same position).

I've locked manually both sides and turned the light off again manually since the lock button doesn't seem to do anything.

I've got intermittent wipers that seem to randomly decide to stop working and locking wheelnuts done up so tightly that the garage broke the key trying to undo them and I've only just got a replacement new one.

I'm getting close to the end of my tether with it to be honest... Anyone got any ideas on what I can do to resolve?

Have you tried taking it back to the garage that worked on it? I don’t understand how they could have caused those issues just by servicing it though, how old is your battery & how infrequently do you use it? Does it sit on a smartcharger if not driven often?

Hi Rob, thanks for the tips... could be a battery issue as I don't drive it much (<10 miles per day).
I have it parked in a village hall car park as we have no parking outside our house... tucked away nice and invisible from the road.
Went up a couple of hours later and everything is fine again... just like my intermittent wipers that intermittently decide to just stop in the middle of the windscreen (when it's raining!)... Still all ok again now so fingers crossed it was something non serious !

I am a little confused as you say your car is an 05, but a 28i?
You posted in the E85/86 section but your sig says its an E89?

Could you just clarify please as it may help to resolve your issue?
