00A698 rear end module open during driving fault

Hi
I’ve got the constant bong / red roof symbol coming up , the fault is showing 00A698 rear end module open during driving fault

Just wondering if any one could point me in the direction of which micro switch/ hall sensor this is on the roof mechanism and I can look into anything obvious there,

I have searched the forum and found a few threads but there mainly for a 00A696 fault

I had saved lots of diagrams and pics but lost them all in a 3TB hard drive fail.

Found it.
I think it's the most useful piece of information.

Thanks very much ! Very helpful to have , although the fault Im getting isn’t listed there 00A698, I shall keep looking !

You can see 2 are not given a code, could be your code is one of those.
Been looking at my car today, but i've replaced too much wire to see the old colours.
And red/brown is used a lot on the Hall sensors to first connector and black pair if a microswitch.
Make sure the roof protector is fully seated, left side has Hall sensor underneath where latches on the knob thing.
Make sure the piece of metal hasn't fallen off on the protector.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been troubleshooting a persistent A698 error code on my 2013 Z4 E89 20i. The roof actually opens and closes perfectly, but the warning light keeps triggering while driving, even with the roof fully closed and locked. Restarting the car temporarily clears the warning, but it always comes back.

Using my diagnostic tool to monitor live data, I can see that rear end module closed.right intermittently switches to "No" while driving, which leads me to believe this is a contact issue caused by road vibration.

I physically inspected the latching mechanism and...

Most likely a rear bootlid microswitch, but the above thread seems more complex, potentially, maybe, could be.

Thanks I’ve just come across that and gave it a read , great starting point for me to look into , thanks for the help
