0 to 60mph on the //M

Right, did some testing today with my satnav (so all this assumes the satnav is accurate - and I've never had a ticket whilst relying on it's speed readings)

10mph indicated was 9mph on the satnav
20 was 19
30 was 27
40 was 37
50 was 48
60 was 58 (so I'd guess 62.5mph on the clock is 60mph real speed)
70 was 67
80 was 76
90 was 86

All done on on a private road, with the indicated speed held for at least 10 seconds (for 10mph to 30mph) and set on cruise control for speeds above 30mph.
 
Sammyz, i think the roadter vs coupe debate is tired now. The most significant thing to affect performance (speed and handling) is the relative weight of the driver. :poke: :evil:

Or the weight of a Scotsman's wallet :D

Quarter mile in 13.1 seconds.... boom!

Sometimes you forget how fast the Z4M is, I did the same test back to back with my Leon TDI cupra which manged a respectable 8.78 to 60. :driving:
 
Do we think the Dynolicious Fusion app is that accurate?

Is it worth the £8 or whatever the cost? Not sure what else it does, the preview isn't very helpful.

Wouldn't say the speedo is particularly accurate at any speed (according to the TomTom) - even with the slightly bigger PSSs. Mine's a bit below at 10mph & 20mph, then accurate at 30mph, and then starts to wander off by about 3.5% the rest of the way through the range (e.g. indicated 88mph has TomTom showing 85mph - which is my regular motorway cruising speed).

140mph indicated read 135mph on the TomTom & output from OBD (via DashCommand).

Although using 3.5% would mean 30mph is only about 1mph out - but an indicated 170mph in 5th would really be 164mph :thumbsdown:
 
Mine is within 0.5mph of gps between 20 and 50, and within 1-2mph between 50 and 90..... beyond that i haven't really checked (you may infer from that either 1- i don;t go faster than that or 2- i do, but i'm too busy trying not to crash)
 
You'd think we'd all have the same discrepancy!

Wonder if there's some ECU/OBD configuration that can be 'calibrated' - and whether your's has been and mine hasn't?
 
Tyre wear might make some difference - 8mm tread on new ones, if you are down to 2mm left, that's 12mm off the total diameter, which makes a worn 265/40 about 3mm smaller than a brand new 255/40
