Startled cat. Not a good look, but aside that hardly any difference externally to the outgoing.

Underneath lots of changes for the better.

I'm sure its a good car, but they've really mashed the mini brand now. Its almost unrecognisable. For me its a bit of an ugly car. Overstyled. I'm all for them bringing back the original shape. Sure have a Mini 'type' brand but don't mess with Mr Issigonis.

do you see it as some sort of a photographic challenge Tom - you are very talented at taking car shots but i think even you would struggle with this one .

Its a shame i liked the Rocketman - but this looks like a 500L

Everyones always so pessimistic on here. Literally know one likes anything but the Z and even then they complain about that. Every new car that comes out gets a slating. Bet its a brilliant car, absolutely love my cooper S brilliant little car.

PS- anyone Noticed that Yellow is the launch colour of choice at the moment- Mini, M4, Audi Quattro Concept - all yellow

Tom - I think it's a fantastic car. My daughter has had 2 of the Cooper S in a row. As per my post underneath is where all the changes are.
2.0 petrol, 6 speed box, massive fuel improvement and slightly larger dimensions. Will be an awesome car that will sell really well.

Just not set on the front lower grille, but it would grow on me.

It will be a sales success which will be good for the british economy - but its yet another new car thats got bigger and lost no weight . There are some clever engines but the rocketman looked like a real way forward for mini its a shame that project seems to be on hold.

When are BMW going to be as bold as Tata have been with JLR who have re-invented a british brand with a new design language .

Agree. I've owned 3 MINI's and the wife has a 2nd gen Cooper S. Great car. I've always liked the 1st gen BMW MINI and I've never been sure of the updates since but saying that they are still great drivers cars. Still today the John Cooper Works S (supercharged) I had would be classed as a very capable road blaster!

how great it would be to see lightweight hot hatches again

I had both a MINI Cooper S and a Suzuki Swift at the same time and always preferred the Swift, felt lighter and nimbler, the MINI at times felt like a fruit cake.

Tim.

Worth pointing out that the front bumper on the photo Breaker posted is the Cooper S. The Cooper has a different and (I think) better looking version.

Sounds like an across the board improvement to me. Great engines, better handling, superb economy and better interior quality and space.

I'll agree with that. Unless it's got a Porsche badge, then everyone on here creams themselves.
