Aftermarket Head unit.

Can anyone recommend a decent adaptor plate for an aftermarket radio ? Autoleads version ordered from Halfrauds arrived yesterday...returned today. It is a cock of Shite!!! After waiting 5 days it was a disappointment (understated irony) :headbang: to find that it just did not fit properly. There must be a plate out there which has a decent fit!! Meanwhile running around in my single seater ( key buggered..will not trigger central locking) with a massive hole in my dash. :x
It has not been a good week...Should I have bought a MX5 ?
On a happier note I now have my custom plates...Should I stick or screw...? :?

Not sure about the adaptor plate, maybe get in touch with a car audio specialist  Halfords have their uses but they are limited uses  Reg plate, why not buy a set of frames that you screw in place but they hold your reg plate without and screws or tape. Just a suggestion

I bought one from amazon. The colour is great but it still needed fettling to fit. I had to cut away some of the plastic at the rear to get it to fit properly. After that its perfectly flush. Just use a very sharp knife and a candle to heat the blade. These guys are very good for the leads etc, http://www.incartec.com.

For the plates screw the front and sticker the back. The front is on a camber so the tape will come off as its constantly under strain.

 Thanks for the replies folks. Ot looks as though it was unrealistic to just expect a replacement surround to just "pop in". New surround due Tues or Wed. Will carefully trim to fit. frustrating as the vents took a max of 2 mins to remove! Rest of wiring / adapters from Halfrauds worked without issues, it is just that the Autolabs Facia Plate which they had to order in was of poor quality. Not sure how the supplied radio cage will fit, (Kenwood) that might need some behind dash brackets!! I could not find a metal pillar to ground the windscreen Dab aerial to so I think I will run a wire and ground under dash.
Regarding the number plates , I think I will "stick". The balance is between getting them firmly attached, but being able to remove them if needed.

I must mention how informative I have found the forum. very useful advice regarding "windscreen wipers not parking" "Leaks through Door cards" and "key replacement". Dealer is sorting out these issues next week thanks to information from this forum.

Hi all,
Update on adapter plate. Found a firm on e-bay ICE In Car Emporium. Explained issues that I had encountered with 'Autoleads' from Halfrauds. Dealer suggested a Connect2 which he had in stock. Posted the same afternoon, arrived 2 days later. Perfect fit, no more expensive than Halfrauds rubbish. Job done!!
