Some spec details, 1.6 Twin Scroll Turbo, 184bhp 260nm torque, Flamenco Orange, 17" alloys+conti's, Chilli Pack, Black pack (alloys, mirrors & roof), visibility pack, ipod/usb connection, half leather, climate control, rear sensors, elec folding mirrors, bluetooth phone prep. Really like it! replaced a 2007 blue Mini Cooper with silver viper stripes!

It wasn't cheap on paper, but the deals bmw are giving away atm is stupid, all i did was trade my old mini in, then took some finance, no upfront payment 3 year finance which is literally nothing a month and they gave me a minimum value for the car after 3 years and I can basically swap it again for a brand new one with no upfront cost again. Similar to my z4M was pretty much the deal of the century, it will be the same finance every time, basically once the loan is payed I just revamp it, but a lot cheaper than you'd expect! ;) if you want deals they are out there! Plus 5 years free servicing and MOT :)!!

Very nice.

My daughters just traded her Cooper S in for another one and loves it. I'm always suprised just how quick they are for a little 'ol 1.6

"literally"?... Now that's cool

What a coincidence! This is exactly the same amount I am left with after the wife gets her mitts on it. Sounds like a Mini is the perfect choice for me

Nice MINI. Always loved the BMW MINI! Owned 3 myself and now the wife has an S. I almost traded my E89 for a new full spec Works S last year!! , but I think I may have regretted that one.

You know what i mean ;) haha

Ye I think you would have regretted it to be honest. I ran a cooper for two years as my main car, and they really are great little cars, very impressive on the motorway especially overtaking big vehicles. You dont get pulled in like some other super minis, drives just like its BMW counterparts. Although the interior size is a little annoying having two people in the back for a lengthy journey can be pretty uncomfortable for them, especially as i have long legs there is no leg room and I end up all crunched up driving it. But for a run around with the odd long journey its great. Also the twin turbo makes a huge difference the car is much more useable, alot more torque where you need it without too much compromise on the MPG.

But still prefer having a BM as the main car, I bought a 3 series to accompany my first one, loved the combo! Really my mum started to share the mini and I used the beemer primarily, then I decided I wanted something with abit more caliber so got the Z4MC and it was time to change the Mini so got my mum to spec this one up and I will use it when I need more than two seats, or running up to the gym etc and she will use it as her main car, she doesnt go far so its great for her! She loves it, she had 3 original minis, one in mustard, one yellow and one black. But the main reason we got this colour was my dad had a mk1 Golf in a bronze colour and they loved it and always wanted a similar colour. Obviously with a lot of cars being more retro and the mini the forefront of that it was her first choice reliving the youth I suppose haha!!

Mini are a lot easier to deal with than BMW, the dealers are a lot more friendly and upbeat, I suppose they employ a certain type of person to deal with a different target market. Although owned by the same company Lloyds of Carlisle, and I bought the Z4Mc about 2 weeks after ordering the Mini. BMW were a lot more difficult to deal with and Mini just did everything we asked, the salesmen seem to have the power to make decisions! Whereas every time I tried to haggle with the BMW dealer he had to go and 'check' which is rubbish if you ask me, means you can only push so far and you get bored waiting! Took over a week to seal the Z4M deal took an hour to seal the Mini! We originally wanted a 1 series coupe and they were most unhelpful basically saying what we wanted we couldn't have! We were looking for a 6 month old 120dc with leather, sat nav and the visibility pack, they said cars with this engine type dont have these specs, a quick look on auto trader quickly proved them wrong, they clearly wernt interested in going the extra mile, they rang 5-6 times saying 'we have a 118d' I was like we dont want a bloody 118d LISTEN!!!! Pain in the bum really!

Strange differences is service but in the end they dealt well. But really they should! especially in this climate, if you want something I would say go and see what the deals are, the finance deals are great got 3.75% apr which is pretty good atm. But go with loads of info on your car, and the one you want then you can say well they have this at this garage for XX, which is what happened to me. They offered me penuts for my beemer and another dealer had one for sale same age milage etc for 5k more on the forecourt so got an extra £1000 out of my motor above 'list price' and a 2 year extended warranty on the Z4M, its inspection 2 service for free, £500 off the vehicle and a tank of super. Which I thought wasnt too bad. :)

Sounds good if that is what you wanted. I'd love to buy something new but the costs are just crazy on depreciation!!! Eeek!

But I guess when you traded the old car in, you didn't get anything for it?

So in 3yrs you will have nothing.

So it's actually quite a lot a month if you divide the value of your old car by 36 and then add the monthly payment?

Well forever we have changed the car every 2 or 3 years, traded ours in got 2k more than list value 10k instead of 8k for a 4y/o mini, (because thats the minimum we said we would take for it) they gave us that money cash so atm it is sitting in a bank account building slowly (like 3% or some rubbish per year) paying less than £250 a month and in the end we either buy the car or swap it for a new one, so it has cost us less than 9K to buy a brand new Mini Cooper S. They are monthly payments with no upfront costs... so really it is the deal of the century. Yes there is always going to be that 10k to pay out eventually, but we always buy BMWs so in theory we will never pay it until one of use dies or we decide we don't need a third car, and in that case the money is always there sitting, because they gave me the value of the car after 3 years, the minimum value they rated the car at is well below market for a Mini, so we could buy it then sell it with at least a £1500 profit! So really its a very rosy situation! The car was 22k list...

I think those engines are twin scroll turbo, not twin turbo. One turbo doing the job of two!

I like that colour scheme!

Ah ok, so it's just £250pcm to finance depreciation, and you cashed in the old car.

That is pretty good then... was just checking as it made all the difference :D

In essence yes, because i bought the car outright to start with with some inheritance there was nothing outstanding. It was a no brainer really! :)

The MINI really is a fun car but ive gone right of them now. It used to be a really special feeling little car when i used to drive the girlfriends cooper S 6 years ago, then I just felt the roads were saturated with them. When the brand went to countryman levels i just couldnt stand the site of them anymore. Its almost turned into a novelty product. A good one though if you stil like them.

This one does look a touch different in that Interesting colour Tom :)

I completely agree, and really was waiting for the upgraded version but the dealer reckons it will be another 2 years for a facelift! Which I find hard to believe. Problem is I dont like any of the competition, a golf would be nice but when i went for a test drive the back and forward lever snapped off in my hand so that put me off... Plus they are even more expensive! I like the new alfas but prefer the german build quality, plus we have had one Mini with no problems so added confidence. I tried a 1 series that was the only other alternative but had a 3 series so there was no point! Its the original and its still rated as the best super mini so I suppose thats the reason! There isnt another super mini/hatch that can beat the mini for outright fun and quirkiness! Cant be bad if so many people like them! :)

That's the thing.

Today having cash sat depreciating makes no sense. £10,000 in the bank needs to make about 8% gross to stand still against inflation and tax on interest (if your in the top brackets, maybe 6% if not)

Instead you can put it in a car, then simply finance the depreciation of the car. It's pretty safe sat in a car, no worse than anywhere else, and you get to actively enjoy it day in and day out...
