Hi, can someone give me the low down on 3.0si Coupe's in terms of transmission...

What options do they come in... do they come in manual, automatic, tip tronic, flappy paddles etc... thanks in advance

They came in:
6-speed manual and
6-speed Steptronic Automatic with paddle-shifts on the steering wheel
... in my country at least.

Cool, thanks... I know everyone will have there own view on this but is the 6-speed Steptronic Automatic with paddle-shifts the best option to get... are paddle shifts not the best form of transmission... thanks in advance

i have automatic with paddles, but to be honest i never use the paddles, the auto box is so good

Think this depends on many things.

My sporty cars are all manuals but I don't have a lot of town driving.

Think this really is up to personal preference.

i am lazy, so changes gears is not for me, the auto box changes faster than i can

I have always been very anti automatics but the one in the Z4 is very good, I took it for a long test drive and now Im very happy I got the auto. In town its very good, if I want to I can do it manually with either the paddles or the stick but 90% of the time I just let the auto do its stuff

Ok cool, the reason I mentioned the auto / paddle shift as being superior was because I thought most auto drivers would have had their transmission in paddle shift mode

How do change between each of the transmission options... is there 3 different modes that you van choose from... auto / stick / paddles

Sorry one last question... do the paddles give you control of 6 gears, thanks again for all your help

I rarely use the paddles - cannot multi-task! they do look quite cool though. You can go through M1 to M6 and the auto"D" kicks in when it's not happy with what's happening..... Sport mode remains in sport mode until you knock the stick back to the right - or want to park or reverse.
