I have a 2004 - z4 2.5 i

1)
My trunk emblem was stolen yesterday.
Wanted to replace it and so ordered the following from amazon. The size is 82 mm. Is it the right one?

2)
I tried reading the manual but couldn't figure as how to change my time in dashboard.

I think both hood & trunk logos are of same size. But how do i replace them?

Where can i find this info?
yes they are the same size.. the boot badge is stuck on, the bonnet is little screws got from inside the front grills.

the bonnet badge is definitely smaller about 73mm i think. but that one looks right for the boot badge (replaced mine with carbon few weeks ago)

The badge should have 2 lugs on the back that just push into the holes that are now visible on your boot! simple push on fit, you may however want to add some liquid nails or similar to stop it being stolen again :fuelfire: .

as for the time setting - if you look through your steering wheel at the instrument cluster you will notice 2 small buttons at the bottom, just above the steering wheel column. these are the magic buttons that will adjust the time for you! 8)

hope that helps

welcome to the forum

Couple of comments to add:

The bonnet badge is fastened on by 2 self threading nuts, which cut threads onto the plastic lugs. Access is by removing one front grille.

I would not 'liquid nails' the boot badge. If someone is going to steal it let them have if for a few ££'s. They will just try harder and destroy your boot with a scredriver trying to remove it. Sadly seen it done

what ba$tards.... why bother taking the rear emblem.. unless they are trying to make a medalion of some sort :x

you should see two holes in your boot/ trunk which should allow the badge to pop back in.... they may have snapped the pins removing the old one (as i did when i removed mine) if so you'd need to drill them out first.

Use HD 3M tape.... secure and reduces the potential for damage if som ba**ard tries to remove it again!

Kinda late reply. But thanks guys - all of you.

Also i just want to confirm the URL i provided is right. i mean "BMW Roundel Hood Emblem 82mm" is good for your trunk. As good as original too.

the boot badge is not stuck on. it is just retained by two grommets, part 51141807495

Yes

The hood badge is not the same size - it's not 73mm either, IIRC it is 70mm, which makes all the difference to the way the badge sits. Best to buy from BMW - the 73mm will fit, but you will need to glue / stick it in place as it doesn't have long enough lugs.

There's a lot of stuff getting stolen off cars, and over on The Alpina Register someone's D3BT was a target of an ODBCII key clone attempt. I'd like to find a way to wire up a bloody great capacitor to the metalwork and give the thieving gits a (literal) shock :poke:

Just want to resurrect this post, as I've just replaced my roundels, and whilst this was good for figuring out sizes, there was quite a bit of misinformation / badly worded stuff ;)

Bonnet roundel
70mm (73mm WILL fit however). Held on with nuts that are accessible when removing a kidney grill and reaching up inside the bumper.

Boot roundel
82mm. "Push fit" style (not stuck). I'd advise getting two new grommets before you start incase the originals are degraded.
The grommet part number is 51141807495 and they cost £0.65 inc vat.
Removal: use a plastic card - an old credit card for example. Slide it in behind the badge and slowly lever the badge away from the car.. work round the badge easing it a bit at a time until you can get a grip of it with your hand.. then slowing pull it away from the car and it'll come off. Grommets are removable with a pair of needle pliars.. just pull them out of their holes.

Side indicator roundel
82mm. These are stuck on.
Removal: remove the indicator assembly from the car (turn counter clockwise), then carefully heat the lens and roundel (specifically around the joint) with a hair dryer or (if you're being REAL careful) a heat gun.
As it heats, the adhesive will become plyable and using a thin plastic card (old credit card again!) you can prise the roundel from the lens. Once seperated, using WD40 on a rag, you can clean the residue off the lens, making it suitable for mounting the new roundel on.

edit: removed my post, as yours was obviously a typo ;)

you're right.. the front IS 70mm.. however, the 73mm will fit in the recess, but does sit proud when compared to the original.
however, you can also trim the 73mm to fit quite easily ;)

What you mean 'trim' which bit and how?

On either side of the back of the badge, at the edge level with the the lugs, you can 'shave' a centimetre up and a centimetre down from the lug with a craft knife or dremmel in a kind of concave cut. The lowest point needs to be 2 or 3mm deeper than the rest of the edge. I'd put a photo up from another post but I can't find one right now, and the one I had modifies by another member got nicked over a year ago

I do know it will need stuck on with silicone adhesive behind the badge and in the lug holes though (or strong double sided tape) because, as pointed out above, the lugs are not long enough to attach the self tapping nuts behind the bumper.
