I was also thinking about conties! I know the falkens are cheaper but I would have thought the eagle f1 or the conties would be a better complete package! In terms of grip noise and wear. Has anyone on here compared the falkens to either the eagle f1 or conties?
I've had Falkens on loads of cars, and for now a mid range tyre, they are still very very good. Conti's are better IMO, but I would certainly run Falkens again. On the limit contis are more progressive, where as Falkens give up more IMO ;.)
My experience of Continentals is that they wear shockingly fast. They were standard fit on our Mondeo V6 Auto. We were changing all four approx every 9 months. (Annual mileage less than 15K) Last year we changed to Toyo Proxes which were half the cost. The fronts lasted 12 months and were replaced last month with Falken 452s even cheaper. The rears should be good until early new year.
Continentals may have been a little quieter, but no discernable difference to handling that we can feel.
I had a similar experience years back when I had a MK1 MR2.
Our tyre supplier suggested that short lifespan of Continetals is well known in the trade.
Agree with that; Got an XC90 and this came with conti's, lasted 6 to 8 months on 15K mileage p/annum , tried them once more and got the same so went for Michelin, NEVER looked back since
always recommend Michelin as a good option, get what you pay for with these
Here you can see a test run between;
Bridgestone Potenza RE pole position
Goodyear Eagle F1 all season
Michelin Pilot Sport AS plus
Pirelli P ZeroNero M+S
