I've just sold my iPhone 3gs and was planning on getting the new one but have instead on a whim got the HTC desire, and I have to say I'm a total Android convert, this thing is blinding fast and is a real Joy to use. It's a large step up from a 3gs, ill have to play with the 4th gen iPhone when it comes out but from what I've seen I think the desire won't be far off it. plus I got a good deal, works out at £17 a month for 500 mins unlimited texts and 500mb internet. That's £30 to £35 on an iPhone plus whatever they will charge for the handset, and no one does deals on them.

So for the many people on here who are not Apple fans there is an alternative to an iPhone that's extremely good and can the lot for you. This from a self confessed Apple fan, I love technology in general too. I will however be getting an iPad with the savings lol

big

for the HTC desire. theyve been doing phones for years but in quite small numbers. i have had a couple but the Desire has just hit the sweet spot. you quite often see it in reviews labeled as the iphone killer.

Well its a 3gs killer, I suspect the gen 4 will have some goodies we don't know about to make it top dog but the open nature of Android means apps wise anything good on the iPhone will be copied quick enough. But I've got some great apps already, one that reads texts and emails whilst driving. Google navigation is great too, not on iPhone yet but will be soon if not on launch of the gen 4 is suspect.

due for an upgrade and totally undecided between iphone 4, blackberry 9700 or the HTC desire.

I am currently using a bold 9000 so I know the 9700 will be good - more of the same, solid quality, email centric device with excellent media support.

I am extremely tempted by the iphone 4 but a little put off by the lack of proper push e-mail, lack of a hard keyboard and a ridiculous 200 e-mail in the inbox limit... i get 150 odd a day!

So not sure - going to have to play with the new iphone once its out but so far I think i may just go for what i know is good. Not sure how the HTC stacks up in terms of email support.

i got the Desire aswel ( upgraded from the iphone 3g) but going to put it on fleabay coz i want the iphone 4 when it comes out

I think HTC phones are fantastic, but I feel the software lets them down.
Had a HTC Kaiser before my iPhone 3G, and although I liked it, I felt the windows software was too slow and buggy. Also felt the touch screen/stylus combo was a little too impractical.

Earlier this year I bought an HTC Hero, mainly to play around with android. Again I quite liked it but felt the android market had a lack of quality control when compared to the iPhone apps market (yes I know there are crap apps on there too and apple is a litte bit too controlling when it comes to accepting new apps). Although I liked the potential of the phone and android combo, I felt it was too underpowered to do anything meaningful. Ended up going back to my trusty iphone3G.

I'm due an upgrade and I'm not sure if I'm going to go for 4G or something different. Will probably go with the iPhone again as I have a Mac at home and found syncing music with a non apple phone too much hassle. I do think, however, that the HTC/android phones will really start making an impact now they're using more powerful processors/more RAM. I also like how the market allows you to refund apps within 24 hours if you don't like them - something i wish apple would take heed of!

Android market is very quick and easy to use just without itunes getting in the way. The only down side is it just looks like another phone while iPhone is a thing of beauty. Desire is much nicer to hold though, the rubberised case is perfect and having 4 buttons makes it quicker to use .

I can't believe I'm saying this but iPhone shmiphone, its too much style over substance, this from someone who convinced 5 friend to get iphones!

Hubby and I are looking to upgrade from, don't laugh, our Razors. We really want an iPhone but don't want to go with AT&T to get it. We love Verizon and hope they get the 4G when AT&T's exclusive contract here in the US runs out in 2012. By then, any upgrade we do now will be eligible for an upgrade(every 2 years).
