Used to have a 145 Cloverleaf.. absolutely loved it.
Remember my first drive, wondering whether I'd made a mistake as it was sooo fast. Only got that feeling again on a motorway sliproad within 10mins of picking up the /M.
They seem to have sorted out the product, all they need to do now is sort the dealers.. I'd buy one again
They took a real step backwards in styling with this new scheme for the MiTo and Guiletta (both based on the 8C), especially when you look at the aggressive styling of the 159 and Brera (the prettiest car on the road ).
I don't understand it personally, it works on the 8C as it's a bigger car but the MiTo and Guiletta look like frogs.
.. Another false dawn.. motoring press write up midsized alfa is a decent car... a real A3 challenger ...this story pops out in the same way every new jag is going to be the one that topples the big three german brands.
they said the same about the 147..which was a far prettier car when it first came out...... the problem is the dealers will let it down and the junk bond residuals.
Mate of mine had one of the first 156 sportwagens in the UK a thing of rare beauty.. cost him similar money to an A4 avant/ 3 series touring 6 months waiting list when they came out ........... at 4 -5 years old it was worth zilch.
We had a serious look at a 147 for the GF two years ago..... went to one of the biggest dealers in the country ..total shambles ...we ended up with an Imprezza instead... so glad we did much better built car for similar money.
Real pity would love an alfa .... would love to hire this car on next holidays.............. but never ever own it.
I actually bought a 147, loved the car - just not all the faults. Having said that a mate of mine also bought one and had no problems whatsoever.... so it seems like if you get a good 'un you are ok.
Dealers are apparently getting a kick up the *rse as well. It would take a big leap of faith from me to buy one again though :?

Considered a Brera a few months back. Just wish it was a little quicker. Totally agree its a stunning work of art, just lacking in the HP stakes. :driving:
