E86 sold at over £22k it seems

I have a feeling we’ll look back on this in 10 years and consider this a bargain. The majority of E series Zeds will have fallen off the road and this will be even more of a unicorn. You’ll not find another like that in a hurry. Kudos to whoever bought it. 👏🏻
 
I’m not sure how he does it , why are people so happy to pay a premium to a dealer when they could buy from sellers for many thousands less.
I understand cars like this have to be sourced but a lot of his cars come straight off Facebook then advertised for a large mark up , apart from a warranty that’s probably not worth the paper it’s written on what am I missing?

Strange to see a silver top in a 2007 registered car - it must have sat around for a while. No Xenons or cruise either, but I suppose if you hardly used it that probably didn't matter. :LOL:

Still I suppose it's one of those "find another" cars though. I just hope whoever bought it uses it rather than tucking it away to avoid depreciation.

Convenience and assurance. Zach has a reputation and a living to protect. Not every z4 potential owner has the interest or time to cruise boards and for sale ads.

As a parallel, I recently had a chance to buy a Lancia Integrale. With limited knowledge of the car I lacked the confidence I wasn’t walking into a money pit. Having someone with a reputation helping me would have made a big difference to the outcome. It didn’t hang around and I missed it. I totally get why people would pay a premium.
 
Sorry, I’m pretty sure if I was spending close to 25K I’d be able to manage a little due diligence!
Not too much to know about a Lancia, mechanically great, the body will fall apart around the good bits ……
 
But not everyone thinks like that Peter. My first Z4 was also my first car bought on impulse. I liked the look of it (being a coupe) and snapped it up before anyone else did. If I’d done my homework I would have realised they weren’t as rare as I thought and shopped around for a better one. I was lucky that it was, in fact, a good’un.
 
As others mentioned, a big part of the markup you pay to avoid having to trawl the Facebook groups and forums yourself, and go through the process of a private purchase (which we all know can be rocky). The coupes especially are pretty thin on the ground nowadays, good ones are genuinely hard to find so buying from a dealer you know actually likes the cars and has a passion for them is not a bad thing at all IMO. Yes you’ll pay more, but you’ll also save a lot of time. And time is money as they say!

I went to view one of Zack’s cars around February this year, I didn’t end up buying it but the overall experience was good and I can see why people buy this way. He was good to deal with and wasn’t pushy, there were no tactics used to try and sell it to me, he just told me about the car and I went away and thought about it and decided against that particular one. I don’t regret that decision as I ended up buying my coupe eventually (after about 6 months of searching!) and even enjoyed that process. But some people don’t, and that’s ok!
