2003 BMW Z4 3.0i – £4,500

For sale is my 2003 BMW Z4 3.0i. Car is due a wash and I’ll take more photos and upload once clean. Selling as I need to release money for interests elsewhere.

As standard, the car comes with:
• Xenon headlights
• Premium sound system
• Heated seats (both working)
• Ellipsoid 18’ wheels
• Rear parking sensors (working)
• Roof motor working & repositioned to the boot.
• Original tool kit & first aid kit included

I’ve owned the car since December 2025 and during that time I’ve spent a considerable amount getting it mechanically sorted, refreshed and properly maintained. It runs and drives very well and, being the 3.0i straight-six, is a fantastic car to drive. Also, only had premium fuel feeding it in the time I’ve had it.

The car is now around 98,000 miles and has had a substantial amount of preventative maintenance and improvement work carried out during my ownership.

Major mechanical work includes:

• LUK clutch & flywheel replacement – April 2026 at 96,280 miles

• VANOS rebuild including anti-rattle upgrade – RBM Hook March 2026

• Rocker cover gasket replaced at RBM

• Auxiliary belts replaced at RBM

• Water pump replaced at RBM

• Expansion tank and cap replaced at RBM

• Thermostat, housing and gasket replaced at RBM

• Radiator replaced at RBM

• Engine oil and filters serviced at RBM

• Gearbox oil serviced at RBM

• Differential oil serviced at RBM

• Clutch Delay Valve deleted at RBM

• DISA valve upgraded with X8R kit

• Throttle adaptations reset

• Roof motor professionally repositioned at RBM. This is to help avoid the usual Z4 roof-motor water damage issue

• Roof drains regularly cleared

• Full vehicle health check carried out by BMW specialist RBM Hook

A large proportion of the specialist work has been completed by RBM Hook, with invoices available.

Other work and improvements during my ownership include, all of which done by myself:

• ZHP M gear knob

• Fexon cup holders

• 12mm front / 15mm rear wheel spacers

• New Bosch wiper blades

• Headlights professionally restored

• Engine bay detailed and ceramic coated

• Wheel arches thoroughly cleaned and ceramic coated

• Brake calipers and wheel hubs refurbished/painted

• Interior leather re-dyed and refreshed

• Driver’s bolster restored

• Replacement floor mats

• Steering wheel cover fitted

• Front and rear drainage channels cleaned

• Exterior decontamination wash

• One-stage machine polish

• Ceramic sealant applied to paintwork

• Glass sealant applied

• Wheel faces ceramic protected

• Stubby aerial

• Space-saving spare wheel included, never been used.

• The car also comes with a Classic Additions black fitted car cover, which cost £239.

The Z4 runs and drives well and has clearly had a lot of money spent on the areas that commonly need attention on these cars. The M54 3.0 straight-six pulls strongly and the recent clutch and flywheel make it particularly nice to drive.

It is a 23-year-old car, so it does have age-related marks and imperfections around the bodywork and I don’t want to portray it as a concours example. The honest bits:

• The wheels could do with a refurb, but they’re perfectly acceptable as they are.

• There’s a deep scratch on the front wing, I presume from where a cat jumped off the bonnet, not done under my ownership

• There’s a rattle from the drivers window mechanism. I’ve tried to repair, but needs replacing. Just cracking the window stops the noise.

• The door membrane needs replacing on the passenger side as you get water in the footwell when it rains.

• Only point on the last MOT was tyre walls have signs of cracking. The tyres haven’t been changed since then.

• Has a bulb out somewhere, giving the only light on the dash. I’ll try to replace this before it’s sold.

• There is a section of lacquer peel on the passenger wing mirror cover. Never been too bothered about it, was there when I bought the car.

• At some point in its life, the front bumper has been re-painted. The match is ok, but in certain lights/angles you can see a colour difference to the bonnet & rest of the car.

• The tracking is currently out of alignment. If I get time before a sale, I’ll get this corrected on a hunter system in Salisbury.

However considering these points, it presents well for its age and has been looked after enthusiastically during my ownership.
I’m selling simply because I’ve decided it’s time for it to go rather than because of any known mechanical issue.

A great opportunity for someone looking for a 3.0i Z4 where a lot of the expensive mechanical maintenance has already been taken care of.

Invoices/history available for the work carried out during my ownership.

I’m based in Andover, Hampshire. If you’re interested, drop me a message or give me a call/text on 07850138039. Thanks, Steven
