Boot not opening / steering ESP light

I was tightening the t bolt on the battery yesterday and over tighten my mistake and snap the top head off.. then after doing all that closed the boot 🤣 .. realised a moment later F!.
Lucky the z4s have a positive terminal in the bonnet, hooked up leads and managed to get it opened. Added a new t bolt on the terminal all plugged and started working... Moments later saw steering wheel symbol pop up.. google said power steering but it seems fine weirdly not heavy when standstill... drove for abit and the symbol still remains. So im not sure what else to do, ive plugged in a OBD and used the bimmerlink app to clear but no luck..

Later on in the day noticed the boot won't open! Tried it on the fob and dash button no luck.. the roof opens and closed without a issue.. while it was open thought id quickly have a look in the boot couldn't see anything wrong.. I clicked the lock and unlock on th3 fob I can hear the mechanism on the driver side in the boot but nothing further towards the actual lock part where the boot handle to open is on the outside.

Little stuck now lol , are there any BMW guys that can help even somewhere to go locally im based in London,

Thanks

Power steering can fail when the battery goes Pete Tong…usually it’s the onboard ECU

It was off the battery for 24hours as I needed to get a new T Bolt.. battery health looks good though attached a pic .. maybe it needs a hard reset to clear.

On another note i do want the boot to open 😆.. if any BMW guys are local to me let me know please happy to pay for any work needing

Found this link on youtube,

il see if using the positive terminal under the front bonnet will give it enough power to open the boot.. as when I press the open boot on the fob you can hear the unlocking noise faintly.. so I wonder if its to do with power.

Update.. i reverted any coding I did on bimmerlink which solved the boot locking issue i think I may have messed around with the Central locking coding... lucky it can be reverted.. only issue left is the EPS funny enough I turned the engine on earlier since last night no error came up went for a 10min drive still no error got home parked up left is running for a few minutes then EPS light came back.. steering feels fine. Weird one.

EPS failures often start with a come and go mode ..hope you’re lucky

Think its my battery as after I went out hooked up to the obd and bimmer app said my battery was at 68% .. to be honest I havent driven enough atm and have just ordered a battery conditioner to help keep the battery charged. Perhaps its due to the battery level .. let's see if that helps

Got onto the BMW tech software from a friend ran the diagnosis rg the EPS light this is what we found. Also check the steering power fuse the red box next to the battery voltage is reccived on all plugs

Looks like your EPS had died..it is no more, it has functionally stabilised, it has kicked the bucket, its dead Jim..

Is that the unit under the car? The diagnosis shown, mean nothing can be loose on the unit definitely need a new EPS?
The ECU is built into the rack housing ..many folks botch the removal of it rendering an exchange not viable..a few folks have used the guys up North for around £400 with good effect..others charge way more for no obvious benefit

Thanks mate, Might be too technical for me now lol diagnosed as much as I could hoping it was a quick fix but seems not.. il call a bmw specialist tommorw and see what they come up with.. only bought it last last month, 30k on the clock ,1 owner from new .. guess these things can happen.

Just an update, when clearing the codes by BMW Tech the steering worked fine although light came on, turned off and on steering got heavy again. Booked to go to a specialist Friday lets see.
