Leaky fluids - Cracked lower radiator hose

Had to call the RAC out, I've hit too many pot holes recently and its ended up cracking the lower radiator hose where it meet the plastic bit on the radiator.

RAC have quoted me £240 to fix, anyone had to do it and what is a realistic price? just trying to shop around but nobody answering

I assume that is just the hose? Or do you need a new radiator as well?
Even if just the hose, you are going to lose most of the coolant, so factor in the cost of that too, plus the time to bleed it all.

One word of caution for you; the temperature sensor is inserted in that hose. M54 it is at the top end, but I think (stand to be corrected) that on the N52 it's at the bottom. Either way, it needs to be swapped over and I'd say there's a 50:50 chance that the O-ring seal won't reseal properly, so you'll need to either fit a new one, or at least monitor it for leaks.

What engine do you have?

I've got an N52, would that O ring come with the new hose? dropped it off a a local BMW independent. Just waiting for them to give me a buzz back as they'll check it and see what it needs.

No, the o-ring I'm on about is fitted to the temp sensor.
