Do E89 wheels fit a E85 Z4.

The lower the offset the further away from the susp the wheel face moves / the higher the offset the more the wheel face moves in towards the susp strut
A E85 would struggle with alloy offset any less than et 25 , going the other way there aren't many wheels with offset over 52 so no concerns that way
Wheel width is also a factor but in the ones youve linked the answer is yes , theyl fit & sit nice in the arch
Yep that s pretty much it , the numbers may seem extreme as you are comparing with 16inch 7j which BMW should hang their heads in shame for ever considering on any Z4

Gary is incorrect about the definition of Offset. Offset is not a measurement from wheel arch on the car. Offset is the measurement from the center of the wheel to the mounting surface on the wheel. It is a wheel measurement and has nothing to do with the cars wheel arch location. Offset can be negative or positive and is based on which side of the wheel (inner or outer) part of the wheel has more or less distance from the mounting surface of the wheel. A + number means that the wheel inner edge has more distance from the center of the wheel to the inner edge Thant the center of the wheel to the mounting surface of the wheel. Gary’s factory offset numbers look to be ok.
So if you consider a wider wheel, then you need to consider the additional width in the offset number and how that positioning of the inner and outer position of the wheel can impact your clearance of the fender arch and the suspension/brake caliper.

If it helps I fitted a set of staggered 18" E89 wheels to my previous E86 and had no issues with rubbing.
They were 8J x 18 ET29 fronts and 8.5J x 18 ET40 rears with 225/40 tyres on the front and 255/35 rears.
I also sold a set of Style 290 E89 wheels to another forum member who used them on his E85 track car. They were 8J x 17 all round with 225/45 tyres IIRC.
