What have you done to your E89 today

Took the 35i for its mot today and after 8 years in my ownership its just had its 8th pass with me, always serviced and repaired when ever needed although it can be painful on the old wallet.
As the years have gone and life has got busy this last year was the least I had done at only 1800 miles, sad really but all those miles have been fun and with a big with the full 375bhp and its Milltek exhaust sounds, beautiful

It will be a sad day when she goes up for sale next year to facilitate my possible retirement

Yeah I'll miss it loads, sadly can't get rid of the other car as that's used as a practical vehicle and for towing our caravan (please don't hate me)

Folks complain about boot space on E89s as when you stow a complex 2 part metal roof in the boot the available space shrinks from 300 litres to around 180 litres.

Maybe that's why I see so few E89s with their roofs down!-

And oh how they whinge..

Of course adding a full size spare wheel engenders mass panic!

Undeterred at a staggering cost of £55 I've devised the perfect strategy.

If you spent a few years touring Europe on a pretty bog standard motorcycle you just take a different approach, focus and live with it.

So here it is..Amazon cheapo microphone bag, a modest general purpose bag and a bag for Christmas wreaths!

2 weeks of clothes, 12 cotton shirts, 14 sets of underwear and socks, 3 pairs of cotton trousers, 2 wash bags, 5 T shirts, 2 sets of shoes, a rather fetching smoking jacket, a puffa jacket and room to spare..plus a full tool kit, jack, spare bottle of oil, a few bottles of water and tins of pop, a car cover, first aid kit plus a 437M 9J wheel with a chunky 235/40 18 Conti Premium Contact!

Simples..to be fair one long bag goes on the baby rear pax shelf

One side done! Incredibly easy upgrade, made easier by the fact that you can remove the old caliper and carrier in one piece, without having to mess with slide pins.

Gravity bled remarkably easily too, taking no time at all to be bubble free. Only done one side so far (whilst my son napped) but should have the other done in a jiffy. Brake pedal is rock solid!

Just to complete this. Both sides now done and been out for a quick spin. Naturally they’ll take a few drives to bed in but it is already feeling more progressive. For £390 all in, it is a superb value for money upgrade.

Could not be bothered to drag out the hover and extension cable, so drove round to the petrol station and shoved a £1 coin in the vacuum machine for 4 mins of super suction and cleaned out all the dirt that fell out of my plant pot in the passenger footwell.

Perhaps a plastic bag would have been a good idea on reflection.

For no good reason other than looks, I’ve decided to purchase all the parts to do the 340mm brake upgrade. Pad retaining clips and pins also purchased but out of screen shot .

I went for ABS branded calipers, as they proclaim to be refurbished OEM Brembo units, rather than being re-cast to questionable quality.

Yesterday fitted the new badge on the front after the old one fell apart. Then took the center dash trim out and removed the ashtray and replaced with the ashtray delete piece. My iphone mini fits in perfectly

I'm looking to update the silver trim pieces first so will look at this maybe next year. Nice to

The anointment of the engine with the finest oil RAVENOL RUP 5w-40

The inspection of the oil filter.

The sample sent to someone divine …Finning

The torquing of the drain / filter housing with a digital torque wrench…
