Alternator options

Hi all
my beloved Z has managed to pop the alternator and had the joys of an RAC rescue to home. They initially offered to do the repair but when the tech turned up he couldn't do it and recommended I use a BMW Indy.

Anyone know of a BMW Independent in the Norwich area who could tackle it (M40i) - I am trying to avoid the main dealer prices if possible.
Many Thanks

As far as I'm aware, the go-to BMW specialists in that area would be MKraft, in Coltishall.

That’s a solid recommendation. MKraft has a good reputation in the area for BMW work. Hopefully, they can get your M40i sorted out without the main dealer price tag!
Yeah you must use them a lot from Australia!

Just an update on this.... the repair was done by my local mechanic and he did a great job - all now running smoothly.
Sadly the bottom pulley had to be replaced as well (this includes a vibration dampening assembly which had loads of play in it) - so that's two separate parts failing at only 31k miles - pretty poor.

The total bill ran to £1700 - I raised this with BMW customer services wrt should these components really have failed after so few miles. Since the car is not within warranty they have refused any help whatsoever.

So, just be aware people - when choosing your next car you may wish to factor in whether you are actually getting better quality for splashing the extra cash on a BMW.
