Door actuator

Friends. I recently replaced the passenger (right) side door actuator on my E85 without difficulty. I just replaced the driver’s side, with great difficulty due to the key engagement rod. Job finished I decided to test it before reinstalling the door card, etc. When using the key fob or center console button neither lock works. After disconnecting the driver’s electrical connection to the actuator the passenger lock works normally. When trying to get the driver’s lock to engage by manually pushing the engagement tang to the “locked” position it will not engage and stay closed. The same exercise with the passenger side reveals normal engagement . I suspect a faulty new actuator. Am I missing something? Your thoughts and comments would be appreciated.
 
I'd say it's a fairly good bet that you do have a faulty actuator.
Unless the symptoms are the same as the original? In which case it could be an issue with the deadlock signal from the GM5?
Or........ one other thing................. it could be that there is just enough tension on the cable from the handle to prevent the lock from operating correctly. Try disconnecting the cable from the handle at the actuator and see if that makes any difference.

Thanks so much for the quick replies. No change with the interior handle cable disconnected. It is definitely a left (US market driver’s side) actuator. Symptoms dictating the change were typical rapid cycling of the lock. Same as the passenger side prior to its replacement. Not a GM5 issue.
