Hi all, I thought I'd better finally join the forum. My car is a Z4 2.0 2008 model in Midnight Blue , not that you'd know it as its just got back from the bodyshop after having the front end rearranged, I'll post some pictures when I've spruced it up.
I've been skating around for awhile now, but a post the other day on the soft top motor caught my eye, and yes I've had problems for about 12 months with mine. After checking it was the motor that was at fault I managed to extract it , and no matter how many videos say just reach in and it's out, I'd say those people who have done this job might say different. Replacement in the rear was a lot easier, apart from the lad who put the lines back on was a bit heavy handed, he broke a banjo bolt.
This job had to go on the back burner then, the car ran but no soft top down. About September/October last year the car stated smoking, the rocker box gasket was dropping oil on the exhaust, not very good but over the next couple of months it ended up backwards and forwards to the garage for open wallet surgery, that has now been cured just a small cloud occasionally when standing in traffic. Again reading posts on here I think we went in the right direction.
So back to the roof, I got a bag of goodies form the stealer and will try again.
