Hi Everyone. I’m looking to purchase a z4 e85 roadster 3l or maybe 2.5l manual. I have a budget of £4500. I am
Based in Hampshire. Eastleigh so ideally the closer the better.

Cheers; James

Welcome to the madhouse James.
£4500 should get you any good prefacelift E85 with the M54 engine.
Please be aware that the 2.5 only has a 5-speed gearbox. Ideal for country roads but not so good on motorways.
To give it a local flavour for you: New Forest yes, M27 no!

Thanks. Yeah. Ideally would like the 3l l. What about the 2.5si? Can you get a decent one within my budget? They have 218bhp with a 6 speed box.

I think you should be able to. Therre's also a 3.0si currently for sale on here for £4995.

Welcome. There is the leggy yellow 3si at a dealer in soton but has a ripped roof with gaffer tape. It was in for £3999 for ages, but as it didn’t sell they decided to “reduce” the price to £5999.
Realistically you’re probably looking at a 2.5si for your budget. You can get a non si 2.5i N52 and very easily upgrade to si power with the intake and extra disa valve.

Mines not up for sale but might be of interest! I don’t really get to use it anymore so it’s just sat on the drive.
2003 2.5 manual sterling silver ( grey )
I bought it 4 years ago with 32k it’s around 44k now.
Just had its Mot and service
Send me a message if you’d like to know more / have a look

And the best wheels too

IMHO a 3.0Si is as good as an E85 gets, well apart from the Alpina and M models but their prices are on a different level!

A manual 3.0Si is also pretty rare as less than 700 came to the UK but the bonus of the facelifts is that if you find a Sport model it will have the sought after M-Sport seats, which were a pretty rare option on pre-facelifts (or SE facelifts).

The optional Bi-Xenons are quite an improvement over the standard candles!

Totally agree with the above having had the 2.5se, 2.5si, 3.0se and now the 3.0si. The 3.0si just has noticeably more power. My only ‘gripe’ with it would be that the stock exhaust doesn’t do it justice. A little bit more noise certainly wouldn’t go amiss…
