Hello everyone.

Long time lurker, first time poster having finally signed up to the forum.

Been longing after a Z4M for years and this will be the year I finally go for it.

Sold my S2000 at the end of last year. Now time for some 6 cylinder goodness.

Wish me luck!

Welcome to the forum. You will finally experience what a real engine feels like. :D :driving:

(Like an S2000 only bigger)

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Good luck finding the right one - the M engine is just fantastic!

Thanks both.

Need to get out and inspect a couple.

Everything for sale seems to be miles away from me at the moment.

Never going back to a 4 cylinder :driving:

That is often going to be the case, seeing as only 1,206 Z4Ms were registered in the UK split roughly 50/50 between Roadsters and Coupes.

I found my MC just over 100 miles away, but it was well worth the trip. :D

Overdue update to say the least but back in Nov 25 I finally brought a beautiful Z4MC from @RobertZ4M. It has had a complete respray, rod bearings done, aero sideskirts, Vanos overhauled, inspection 2 in 2025 amongst other smaller jobs. Cosmetically immaculate with some big ticket items crossed off.

Naturally it rained for the whole drive home...

Collection day with the Z4 in its natural habitat.

First job on the list for the new wallet drainer, removal of the spoiler. I tried to like it but after a couple of months it had to go.

After. Much better. Sorry Rob!

Next job, replacing the original rear shocks and springs. After 113,000 miles and 20 years, they were well and truly dead!

The bump stop had given up on life.

Collectors item.

Had well and truly lost its ability to absorb any kind of shock.

Went for the Bilstein B6's with OEM springs. All new bolts, pads, nuts, bolts etc.

Beautiful.

Much better!

Luckily the rear arms and bushings were in good condition with no play. Gave them a quick bit of lubrication then onto the front of the car.

For the the front of the car, the wallet was well and truly drained. New arms, tie rod ends, shocks, springs, drop links, fixings etc. For the front I've also gone down the B6 shocks with OEM springs.

More collectors items!

Spending half my life laying under this thing these days.

New arms, tie rods fitted along with around 300 new clips.

Unfortunately, the front B6's have now been on order since the end of May. Hoping they will be here in the next few weeks.

Have also changed the timings chain tensioner and gasket (original one leaking), oil & filter service, gearbox oil change, bonnet and boot struts, new undertray bolts all round amongst many other things.

Off for a driving break around Wales at the start of August to finally stretch her legs properly!

Anyone got a wallet I can borrow? 💰

Congratulations, and welcome to MC ownership.

I'd love to know what you think of the OE spring and B6 combination as I'm going to need a suspension refresh in the not too distant future.

And sorry I can't help with the wallet. I've got an MC to maintain!

Impressive work on a smart coupe. I also have to agree that the rear end is much better without the added spoiler. You've got some wonderful roads to enjoy in Wales when you get here.

P.S.
The one problem I have with my non-M coupe is that I can't seem to get the MPG low 30s, no matter how hard I drive it :driving::rofl:
