Hi everyone,
We are looking to sell our 2013 BMW Z4 E89 hard-top roadster as spares or repair.
It is red with cream leather seats, has approximately 141,000 miles, and comes with 2 keys. One key is currently working/used regularly; the second key has not been used for a while, so we cannot fully confirm its condition.
The car does run and drive, but it has an orange engine management light and there is a noticeable shake/rough running. Because of this, we are selling it honestly as spares or repair rather than as a fault-free car.
AA diagnostics showed the following fault codes:
AA also noted suspected DME-related fan issue, with the fan defaulting to on. Engine oil level and coolant level were both OK at the time of the AA visit.
A BMW specialist has advised that the issue may be timing/VANOS related, but we have not authorised major repair work, so the car is being sold with the faults declared.
Important points:
The logbook/V5C situation is not straightforward at the moment, so this will need to be discussed honestly with any serious buyer before sale. We want everything done properly and transparently.
We have had a £2000 offer from a scrap company, but before accepting that we wanted to offer it to Z4 enthusiasts first, as it may be useful to someone who knows these cars or wants it for repair/parts. W are looking for sensible offers.
Please message me if interested, and I can send any further details.
