Suspension Refresh on E85 3.0 si

If you can get hold of it, Seafoam Deep Creep. Spray the bolts twice a day for a couple of days prior to starting.

This stuff enabled me to get out both rear arm bolts intact on my Mondeo. And they're notorious for snapping.
 
Something that gets overlooked sometimes is the rear trailing arm bushes. If they are worn out they can have a big impact on how the car handles.

After refreshing all the above I still felt this weird shimmy from the rear any time I hit an imperfection in a corner. It's been diagnosed as a worn rear trailing arm bush.

It's not the easiest thing to get at but well worth changing and maybe add some trailing arm bush limiters as well to minimise wear going forward.

@TriggerFish have you mounted these yet? in this thread @r3vmatch mentions that you need to make a notch in the plates to clear the roof support bracket. Based on the pics and some AI help I made a rough template to make the notch in advance. Haven’t tried it yet myself, use at your own risk!

I think you can make the notch only in about half the thickness of the plate, it should clear by the look of the pics. I have Rogue rear top mounts ready to go in, and these have the reinforcement plate integrated.

EDIT: you have an E86, ignore...

Where did you manage to find this stuff, only online? I've only just been alerted to the possibility that I might snap the bolts and would very much like to avoid any more drilling on my zed🥲
 
I’ve used AUTODOC numerous times & can also recommend them. The only comment I could make is that delivery times to the UK can sometimes take about a week so look else where if you are on a schedule.
