No start, no click, no grind, I can hear the fuel pump cycling

As it was actually a colonial cousin who started this thread with a sensible question, I feel one or two comments have strayed very close to the ‘offensive’ line. Particularly saying ‘they’ as though they are outsiders to this forum.
Whilst everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I think we should endeavour to make it clear these replies are only our opinions, based on hearsay and a perceived reality, mostly picked up from news articles. I was always taught ‘believe none of what you hear, none of what you read and only half of what you see.’
So in this case I think some of these replies should be prefaced with ‘IMO’.

But that’s just my opinion 😁

I think it's more about their 'litigation culture'. If they drove into a tree because the car had no 'safety', they would look to sue the manufacturer (and probably win). So manufacturers try to mitigate potential law suits, as they can come from anywhere for anything in the USA.

They love a law suit nearly as much as they love carrying loaded lethal weapons around in public.
That is exactly it! You all have probably heard of the old lady (happened years ago) who sued McDonalds when she spilled hot coffee on herself…she won!

Thanks EZ, I’m not easily offended but I appreciate your post!

I did get the car towed, got it in the garage today about 1 PM. At least I have a good place to work on it now, if I can’t get it going, I have an appointment with a “Speciality Auto” mechanic on 30 June, that is for a miss around 4K.

This tow was covered by my auto insurance, $125 USD, 10 mile tow. If I don’t get it running the mechanic is 13 miles away so worst case probably $150 to get it there.

Check the earth ground cable. It connects the engine block to the chassis. Its possible its corroded and preventing the starter motor from working.
I had same problems, thought it was the starter motor, replaced it and still the car wouldn't start.
Mechanic came to the house and within 5mins identified the ground cable was faulty.
5 mins later, new cable in and everything was fine.
