Searching for Owner of Vehicle DR06 ZED LD39870

Hi all,

I'm hoping the collective knowledge of the forum can help me track down a very specific E85 Z4 M Roadster.

I've been digging heavily into the production numbers for my own car, and it turns out there were only three cars ever made to my exact specification: Carbon Black paint, Imola red Walknappa leather, and Carbon inlay trim.

I own the first production model, and sadly, the middle production car has been recorded as a total loss. That leaves just one twin out there: the final production model, currently registered as DR06 ZED.

I ran a background check to piece together some clues, and I'm hoping someone here might recognize the car or its history:

The Car: It's a Carbon Black Z4 M Roadster. It is currently on a SORN with an MOT valid until 24 Jul 2026.

Mileage: It is an incredibly low-mileage example, last recorded at just 43,270 miles during its July 2025 MOT pass.

Ownership: It has had 4 keepers in total. The current owner acquired the vehicle on 27 September 2014.

Registration History: It has a fairly complex plate history with 6 recorded changes. Previous plates include VIBKJ, P60JKA, M700GTS, and it appears to have worn PG57HRE on three separate occasions.

Given the irregular MOT history in recent years—it only covered 126 miles in the year leading up to its 2025 test—and the fact that it is currently on SORN, I highly suspect it might be sitting in a private collection or tucked away safely in a garage.

If anyone knows the current owner, or if any of the previous keepers happen to be on here, I would absolutely love to connect.

Why? Are you planning on having a 'long lost family re-union'?
If you did find the owner (very unlikely) they would probably think you are some kind of weirdo TBH.

The DR06 ZED reg number presumably means it currently belongs to a doctor. There are not many doctors on car forums IME. The only one I know of is @BMWZ4MC and he bailed and went where the money and weather was better.

I assumed it's a Doctor. I actually work at Oxford University Hospitals myself.

I want to tie in with the owner to share information I have from BMW Munich regarding our cars.

I've not been able to find anything. So this is all I can do - reach out and hope they contact me, whether now, or in years to come by simply searching their own reg on the web and seeing this post.

If they are a knee surgeon as suggested by John-e89, then we can have other discussions too, more professional related.

Not wanting to look daft, but PG57 HRE will be the plate it was first registered under and what it goes back to every time a personal reg comes off. I wouldn't say it's complex, merely each owner has had a private plate.

(Personally, I've never seen why anyone cares that such and such a build is one of only X. They're still only X of however many thousand Z4s were made and it's not as if they were even next to each other on the line. It's not even as if a certain combination of trim means that the owner is just-so and more likely to become a bosom chum. It's a bit like me being able to say a friend's daughter works in Neuroscience at the John Radcliffe. It's a coincidence, sure, but does it move the world forward? Not really )

John meant that I’m a knee surgeon, not that the owner you’re seeking is a knee surgeon.
 
Come on guys, there is nothing wrong, or particularly weird - certainly by our collective standards - in wanting to try and find out who has the only other car in that exact specification.
