Last issues to sort on the coupe- anyone shine a light on these and help me with where to look?

Issue: no defrost air passing on to screen (have air movement to vents and footwell)
No temperature input change hot to cold etc

It’s not in transport mode
Have tried other controls so it’s not the controls at fault

3 codes won’t clear from error memory which are:

1f42 defrost flap
23c2 temperature mix flap
Aux pump

I’m hoping that I don’t need to take the dash out again to fix this, however I am thinking that in my stupid era, when I took the hvac loom out, I didn’t label it at all. I assumed I’d connected it all up ok, but all of the actuator motors connectors and wire colours were the same.

Q: have I got some connectors plugged in wrong? IMG_0197.jpegIMG_0198.jpeg

Thoughts please?

Using this as a guide I think the defrost flap actuator is drivers side.

I can’t find an actuator that controls temperature on the passenger side on realoem??

Not entirely sure, but I know some are accessible on the left side, so you could get someone to operate the controls and feel which one is moving?
Bit agricultural, but might work.
I am surprised you have a defrost error as that motor is on its own on the other side and you wouldn't think the loom would reach to connect that one wrong...................... assuming it is connected at all?

As for the aux pump? Does the N52 have an auxiliary coolant pump like the N46 does? If so, possibly that not working, but I can't remember ever seeing one?

I’ve ordered two actuators, the drivers side one which is the defroster and the temp one which is passenger side middle one

I’ve got power to each as it stands so will see if that sorts that. I can’t think two would fail but at least it will rule it out

Interestingly 23c2 temp flap on Google search is classed as ‘ventilation flap’

I’ve located the temperature actuator and got it moving. I can’t decide if i connected it incorrectly loom wise or if it was seized but it now moves when I change the temperature dial

Utter bstard to get to with the fan right in the way

Let’s see what the story is with the defrost flap

Frustratingly solved

Its on me but I blame BMW engineers

All the hvac loom plugs are the same size and fit

So its possible (as I did) to connect the temp sensor plug to the defrost actuator

Lesson for me is don’t be rushing for your dinner and mark all the hvac loom plugs up

Faceplam

Anyone else reading this who needs to face into actuator failures or replacement:

Taking the glovebox out gives you fairly good access to the face and feet flap actuators

To get to the heat one which is begins those- you really need the interior fan out.

The defrost flap is drivers side and fairly simple to get to

The actuators are simple to get out but a sod to get in. Make sure the movable vanes are aligned as much as you can before offering up. When offering up get the smaller tab located first then slip the base bigger clip in place to click in

Hi bigwinn,

I've just come across this thread. My A/C works at all locations, but only intermittently on the front vents. When I change the direction of the air to be front vents, I can hear it blowing in behind the dash, but it won't come through fully. At times, it'll randomly start working, however more often than not, it'll blow in behind the dash, unless I change it to be floor or windscreen.

Any ideas whether this could be actuator related, or the IHKA Control Panel?

I’d say your actuator needs replacing

So you have inpa so you can monitor the movement?
