Hi All, newbie here but lurking too long.

I've finally decided to bite the bullet and will hopefully be purchasing a Z4 coupe soon. Not too fussed about millage but would love to get one from someone who has loved and maintained.

The search has already consumed about 60% of my brain and the other 40% is subconsciously thinking about it as well. Help Me!!

Cheers,
Jourdain

It certainly sounds like you’ve done a lot of thinking… but the obvious question is “what Z4 are you looking for?”

With multiple generations, engines and prices to consider, it will be difficult to help from the get go. If you start with budget and what’s interested you so far, then we can all chip in and help :)

He’s already said Coupe so that’ll be an E86 with the 3.0si N52 engine.
Colour, interior, spec and budget will help.
Or of course there’s the M version for people who wish to compound the mistake of buying a convertible with the roof welded shut. 🤣🤣🤣

I mean, where to start...

2006–2008 Z4 Coupe 3.0si (E86)
Blue with Champagne leather interior
Don't care about millage, in fact, higher millage but well maintained and loved is preferred over over lower millage and less history.

I've seen one for sale on the forum so will reach out but the millage is 170k + But this is a fun weekend car that I'll not add crazy miles to. Maintain and learn myself.. and keep one of these stunning cars going for many more years.

I've always been drawn to the coupe, a friend had a Z4m Coupe about 10 years ago and since then I've always had to Google some pics every now and then to satisfy my needs.

Hi Jourdain,

You're definitely right about E86s being addictive - I'm on my 3rd in 12 years!

Montego Blue with Champagne is a lovely colour combination, although I also liked the Pearl Grey interior I had in my Montego Blue one.

Anyway good luck finding the right one.

Don't over think it. I'm new and love my car, its so addictive and it brings a smile to my face every time I just sit in it
Enjoy

That sounds like the addition being satisfied! What three have you had? How come you swapped as well? Just fancied a change?

For me, things made in this era had a certain quality and simplicity that draws me in. Same for furniture, bikes, the list goes on.

I bought a Ruby Black 3.0Si Coupe in 2014 and loved it, but got a shock when I got the bill for a new water pump so when someone on here was looking for one in 2016 I agreed to sell it. Took it for a last drive and realised I had made a big mistake so 2 days after it went I picked up my Montego Blue 3.0Si. :D

In 2019 I started getting the itch to try an M, and after a local trader let me have an unaccompanied drive in an M Coupe I knew I had to have one. Then my current MC was advertised on here in December 2019 at a price I couldn't resist and I still have it because it just feels so special!

I agree about cars of this era being modern enough but still feeling analogue. That's probably why my daily is a 2005 BMW 330i, so I still have a 3 litre N52 engine.

"Don't know what you lost until it's gone" - But if you can replace it with a Montego Blue 3.0Si then who is complaining! Do you still own one now then or have they all departed?

Yeah, just simple, refined and solid! I mean... the size of the following and people who still like them 20 yers on says it all.

How's the 330i? Obviously not a 3.0si but not a bad alternative. I have a Mazda CX 2013 which has been amazing, but I've had practical cars all my life. Time for a second car treat.

Yes, I still have the Silver Grey M Coupe I bought in 2019 (photo in my avatar).

The Engine in my 330i is great, but it doesn't drive like a Z4!
