Rear console removal + passenger airbag deactivation retrofit

Done - hopefully didn't damage the microswitch, nothing seemed to be broken anyway!

Once things are fitted I plan to write up a guide to retrofit the airbag off light and switch, as I've not come across one on this topic yet.

Good news is that I've found the wiring, hidden below the carpet - plugs into the airbag off light perfectly.

Now got to start thinking about how to program it and drilling the hole in the centre console as well as the side of the dash..
I believe you will need NCS Expert to code the SIM85

Just seen this thread. Had a few real life issues to focus on the past few days so had my eye off the Z4 ball.
I have this retrofit to do.
How did you cut the hole in the end of the dashboard?
I'm tempted to remove the door to make access far easier.
I have the plug behind the left vent so I'm also hoping my plug under the central console is also hidden like yours was.
Having removed several central rear consoles, I've never removed a drop down door. I've encountered both Torx and X head screws under the door and always managed to extract them with a long slender tool with the appropriate head. Although you can't get square on to the screw head, if you push hard enough whilst turning gently, the will come undone.
Then I'll have 2 cars that need coding done on them.

Hope you’re well Ben. Think you’re right probably could have got to the screws without removing door, but it was pretty straightforward once you’ve got the right angle.

Hi Martin, could you point me in the right direction on coding? I read an old post and it said ISTA-P, how is that different to NCS Expert? Completely new to all this coding stuff, don’t have a cable and don’t know if my newish windows laptop would be compatible..

Maybe it is ISTA then? I’ve not done it yet but I remember seeing the tick boxes for it on the SIM85 in NCS Dummy before.

I'm always afraid that I'm going to break something yanking the door off. So, I found a universal torx extended bit that can get to the two screws with the door held partially open.
