VIN and Vehicle Precheck App - Limited Free Lookups

I didn't know you could proactivley get the vin from HPI sites etc. Have you got an example, I'd be curious too.

If we can crack the BMW AOS limitation there's tonnes we could do. I think lookup sites like bimmer.works and mdecoder.com are running off similar. I managed to contact one of them but they get blocked every now and again by BMW for exceeding fair usage thresholds.
I’ll send you a PM

Hi all, I've now expanded the app functionality - it's now a vehicle precheck tool to give you insights when researching a possible purchase.

Please use the coupon code "FREEZ4" which has a limited number of free lookups.

So as as well VIN, engine number, Tax and MOT status, it gives the vehicle a score out of 4 based on MOT being present, pass rate, average mileage and engine reliability outlook, e.g:

Currently tweaking the engine reliability forecast, surely M54 should get a green score for that right?!

Would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

Nice neat format of the results. Is there anyway to have the report either downloaded or emailed to you?

Not yet, I'll look to add that functionality, thanks Chanlon.

Got to have a think about how to score newer cars which don't have MOT results to go off..

Just an observation, as I don’t own a vehicle with an M54 in it, but I’m not sure the summary of the M54 is fair bearing in mind we’re talking about a 20 year old engine that’s generally considered relatively bullet proof. If I knew nothing about these engines the summary might put me off considering one.

Surely all engines will have mixed reliability? But in the engine universe I’d have thought the M54 was right up there in terms of long term reliability.

The points listed are valid, but how common are piston ring issues for example?

EDIT - just re-read and note your point that M54 would ideally have a green score.
