We just aquired a 2003 E85 Z4 Roadster from my cousin, just in time for Mother's Day gift to my wife. (beats flowers any day). Its obviouly not heavily used with under 20K miles delivered but has at bit of cleaning needed and a few minor things needed like a PS headlight bulb, the coolant overflow light is on even though I added enough to get the float to the right level and She wants a wind deflector so I'm looking for that. We're going to take it to the Smokies in October - tail of the dragon is on the list of roads to cruise with it. Brand new run flat tires less than a year ago, so that box is checked for the trip. We/She are looking forward to many years of joy from our first Bimmer / the new addition to our garage.

Welcome 🙂
Nice present to your wife 👍
With that mileage you should get many years of enjoyment, as long as you keep it well maintained.

Ditching the run flats is pretty much a given, and is apparent as soon as you have done it.

Which engine is in it?
I would plan to replace all the fluids as you will have more comfort on a longer trip knowing they are fresh and doing what they are supposed to.

Coolant light is probably the sensor having given out. Replace the header tank, easy job, especially when coolant is being done also. 🙂

Yes, it's a plan to replace the fluids for sure. It's the 3.0 engine, 6 speed manual.

Also check all rubber engine parts. With such low mileage and 23 years chances are at least some will be perished. Or, as I have found out, they will start to perish as soon as it is used. My car (same engine) which has had almost no use for years is requiring around three parts per week at present; all because it is starting to be used a bit. Nothing major, just lots of 'bits and pieces'.

It would be wise to buy a BMW-specific code reader aswell. You will need it.
