E85 Wind Deflector OEM or other?

I'm looking to get a wind deflector for our 'new to us' 2003 z4 roadster. It didn't come with one new. Is there any reason I would not want to buy one of hte OEM leather ones that fits over the little roll bars? How does it mount / where do the tie down straps attach? Are there better alternatives and why are they better? Thanks in advance!

The gimp-style leather deflectors are not popular in the UK. We prefer the mesh fly screen which slots into brackets on the headrests.

You would need to assemble a kit - screen and brackets. Plus (optionally) the mesh insets in the headrests themselves, plus the brackets to stock screen in trunk when not in use.

From windrestrictor.com. Mounts with powder coated Allen bolt clamps, and can light up to illuminate your custom engraved text.

I have a gimp style leather one! 🤣 Does the job and if its put on right looks part of the car as I have full leather, gimp style, throughout the car. The hoops stay looking clean if it's not on too. To be honest, I'm bald and the missus puts a cap on if the roofs down so hardly use it.
