DSC00612.jpegHi everyone.

Be gentle please 😂, started my midlife crisis by purchasing this Z4.

Car history has been fairly ‘bland’ to date. Honda civic Vti x2, various Seat Leon’s (with mods).

09 with 94k. Fairly tidy but I’m making a list of jobs / upgrades so will be no doubt calling on the experts here (after searching posts of course).

Looking forward to fun ahead.

Nigel

Hi and welcome to the forum Nigel.

That's a lovely colour combination too. While we like to see a photo of new members' cars, you're spoiling us with three in your first post!

Welcome and a good start to BMW ownership! 🙂
Lovely 2.5 N52 there so you should not have any engine related issues.
What are you thinking about on the upgrades?

Oh as far as the midlife crisis goes, you are in good company (even if some of us are maybe a little beyond the midlife bit now!) 😉

Thanks for the welcome both.

There’s a list of fixes and refurbs first…..noticed that a number of the seals are perished so that feels a needed job.

Would like to refurbish the seats and get the alloys done (with new tyre - get rid of the run flats).

Don't be surprised if you find leaks from the cam-cover and oil filter housing gaskets. At some point the electric water pump will die. Whether you replace it for peace of mind or wait until it happens is your call, although a new Pierburg OEM one will cost £250/300 so long as you don't buy from BMW!

I haven't had an E89 but I've read plenty of posts on here about replacing the Salmon relays in the roof mechanism as they are cheap, and prone to failure.

You can get some good leather products from people like Liquid Leather, and most people bin the run-flats.

Whatever you do, don't even think about painting the alloys in a lairy colour, people around here will get VERY annoyed... 😂

Welcome to the forum mate, your car looks awesome, nice one (y)

Welcome. You're likely joining a big list of folks who fit the midlife crisis category. Nice looking car. That blue is great when polished and in the sunshine. Are those alloys 17inch? They look spot on.

Mr Tidy (as usual) has things spot on with the gaskets, water pump (although anyone's guess when it goes) and the salmon relays (should be first job as so easy).

Changing out the run flats will transform the feel of the car!

I would also add, if you don't know what oil was used in the last change, I would do an oil and filter change for peace of mind. Ditto the plugs if no evidence of them being replaced.

Welcome to the Forum you will get plenty of advise here even if you don't need it. Enjoy the drives to come good choice.
