Long time M owner, recently my ride was totaled and I just replaced it with another M in the area that was sold as having the premium package but is completely barebones. I plan on slowly replacing parts until it is closer to that premium package promise.

It has 47k miles so that kinda makes up for what it was missing, plus is has a Bilstein B12 setup and a stromung exhaust. I had no idea these could come without cruise control lol
Quite a lot of desirable features were on the options list for reasons best known to BMW!
But you can retro-fit cruise if you buy the control stalk, although you'll also need to wire it into the loom. There is someone on here who can make that wiring up for beer money, but he's in the UK. Then again shipping a few bits of wire across the pond shouldn't be too expensive.
If you decide to do it when you take of the bottom section of the steering column cowl you'll find markings showing what you need to cut out to fit the stalk.

I bought a new cowl and the CC stalk from BMW and my Indy spliced it directly into the loom cash-in-hand. It's worth calling around to see if anyone locally has experience doing so. There is a how-to somewhere but mine was fitted 15 years ago, so I don't have the link anymore.
