Is it possible to switch hifi for carver sound system?

I've been looking through the forum and searching online and haven't found any answers for this, is it possible to retrofit the higher quality premium system into a 10 speaker Hi-Fi M? My previous car had the premium system and it was notably better sounding than the current one I have. Would it be more worth it for me to get some of the speakers someone mentioned were made specifically for the impedance of the one that I have? Would that still be underwhelming compared to the stock premium sound?

From what I have read the Carver DSP set up isn't compatible with much else, and the amps are all getting old now.

It might be easier, and possibly cheaper, to just upgrade what you have.

I recently stripped a basic 6-speaker system out of an E85 and replaced it with the middling 10-speaker system. Whilst it was a good upgrade, for the effort and cost required I wish I had gone for the top HiFi carver system. That would have been the same effort and a much better outcome (my current E86 has Carver).
So, yes, you can upgrade from 10-speaker to carver. You would need to swap the amp, all the speakers and the feed wires to the sub-woofers, but you should be able to retain the remainder of the loom. Depending on your head unit, you may need to change that as well.
