Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust cover?

Just passed the MOT but with a 'repair as soon as possible' anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust cover severely deteriorated offside front upper? Is this the front drop links? Also suspension arm ball joint has slight play 'monitor and repair as necessary', told about this by the grill stealers but thought they might be trying it on. Thank you in advance. Mike.

Thank you smorris_12, I thought it might be. The garage I took it to last year for a service said that the arm ball joint had a little play but after finding out that they had stolen my lower grill and swapped it for a damaged one I took it with a pinch of salt.

They seem to be different sizes for SE and sport suspension, they are asking for my reg number. I'm not sure what mine is as a previous owner did a suspension refresh.

I've just had a look at some reg plates on AT to compare on Auto doc and they all seem to be 270mm long for both SE and sport

I wouldn’t worry about slight play in the ball joint. You should be able to see or feel how deteriorated the drop link dust cover is. Normally it’s a fail if it’s split. Not expensive and fairly easy to change. I am sure SE and Sport are the same length.

Yes it's split

I've looked on ebay but I'm not very happy buying things on there. Are the Drivetec ones on GSF okay or Ridex on Autodoc? Done some research and the size should be 270mm but some sizes shown are different or not at all. Also some are aluminium and others steel. Not as easy to buy as I thought this would be. Any help much appreciated as I have spent hours looking on line  Mike.

Drivetech? Just changed a set of rear pads for a bloke after a garage fitted them. Only done about 100 miles and the edges were breaking up and making a horrible squealing noise.
or

The Febi ones would be more than adequate for droplinks and Parts in Motion on eBay are a very good seller. Used them many times and never an issue.
Note that the deal is for a pair, so don't end up with 4!!

Thank you enuff_zed, that's what I'm after. It shows 1 on the picture but says '2x Anti Roll Bar Links' in the description. Sorry for being dopey but is it a pair or just the one. Just need to know as I want 2 of them but don't want to end up with 4  :)Mike.

Yes, that's for the pair. The single one I linked to in the following post, but it's not much cheaper than buying the pair.

Also is it worth replacing the anti rollbar bushes. Mike.

Thank you enuff_zed, I was a bit unsure as everywhere else that price was around the price for one. My wife sorted it out for me, she is very good with buying stuff on line, I'm hopeless. Mike.

My drop links have arrived, I've watched a 'how to do' video and they say to use thread lock. Is this really necessary? Thank you in advance. Mike.

They should come with nyloc nuts so threadlock isn’t needed
