Due to sad circumstances, I’ve been tasked with selling my late father-in-laws much cherished Z4. After much searching, we chose this particular car together 4.5 years ago as I’d previously had an E89 myself, plus two E85’s. There are a few minor items that normally I would deal with prior to sale, but the family would like to sell the car as quickly as possible, hence offering it to the forum to someone who would take the work on. Otherwise I'll sort it and readvertise at a higher market value price.

Registered 9th September 2009. Current mileage is 69,819. 2 Previous Owners.

Spec:
  • 2.5 6 Cylinder N52K Engine 204bhp
  • 18” 293 Style Alloy Wheels with Bridgestone tyres and new centre caps.
  • Kansas Black Leather
  • Titanium Silver
  • 6 Speed Sports Automatic
  • Sports Seats
  • Heated seats
  • Satin Silber Matt Interior Trim
  • Wind Deflector
  • Sport Leather Steering Wheel with Shift Paddles
Service History:
  • 15/09/11- BMW Phoenix @7580 miles
  • 06/09/13 – BMW Harry Fairbairn @19515 miles
  • 02/09/15 - BMW Harry Fairbairn @ 29592 miles
  • 05/09/17 - BMW Harry Fairbairn @ 39674 miles
  • 03/10/19 – APR Garage Services (Porsche Specialist) @46861 miles
  • 24/06/21 - APR Garage Services (Porsche Specialist) @52598 miles
  • 05/06//23 - Car Clinic Bridge of Don @57975 miles
  • 07/06/2024 - John Clark BMW @63,853 miles

Additional Recent Invoices:
  • June 2024 - Genuine BMW front discs and pads fitted by dealer
  • June 2024 – O/S/F Replacement Spring & Strut Top Mount
  • June 2023 – N/S/F Replacement & 2x Tyres
  • May 2023 – Wheel Alignment

Good points:
  • Full Service History
  • Body work and interior and 9/10, very few blemishes or marks
  • Drives great
  • No water in the battery area (unlike others we viewed & my old car)
  • Good Bridgestone Run Flat tyres all round
  • Standard car

Points for consideration reflected in price:
  • Needs a smart repair to the lower front bumper
  • Roof is fully functioning, but there is a red error warning. Troubleshooting just now, hopefully just a sensor - (Update - error code is "A696 Hall Sensor Open Circuit" - New sensor ordered)
  • Needs new rear brakes ~ £150 for parts
  • Service & MOT due in June

Private plate to be removed. Priced at £6500 for a quick hassle free sale, with the price reflecting the minor work required above. Car is located in Aberdeenshire. Will collect any potential buyers from closest airport or train station.

Due to the sensitivity of the sale, no time wasters please. Additional photos and videos available upon request.

Looks like a decent car.
Most of the issues are a cheap and easy fix for someone who can do DIY them.
However, I would find out what the roof error is as it will cause many to run a mile and could easily prevent a quick sale (or any sale TBH).
The short MOT also makes the car more of a 'risk' for buyers. I would get that renewed aswell.

PS. One of the dates above for the servicing isn't correct, I presume?

GLWTS.

Yeah it's a lovely example. If it was a manual I would have kept it for myself.

Good spot thanks. Updated to be 2013, not 2016.

Yeah, that's a fair point and I hope to fix it. Away to post in the problem section and do some research. Priority was getting the car prepared and detailed for selling. Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry for your loss mate. The car looks like a beauty, and seems to be in great overall condition. I doubt you will have much trouble selling that one, even with the minor faults.

I will be looking for something very similar (but manual, not auto) when DVLA decide to get their act together and return my licence.

Good luck with the sale

Update if not following my other thread. New diagnostic tool detected error code "A696 Hall Sensor - Open Circuit"

New sensor ordered from BMW 🤞

This is a good example of a well written advert with a car advertised at a good price and selling within a short time frame

Car collected this morning and started its 520 miles trip to its new home.

New owner Marc is a top chap, glad it's gone to a good home. Recommended this forum to him. He's already got a road tip to France planned.

I'm sure it won't be the last time I post on here, those manual G29 M40i's are very appealing.

Hello, yes I bought the above car and the journey back from Aberdeen was amazing - the car drove faultlessly, and I thoroughly love driving it. The seller was a splendid person and so helpful, and described the car exactly, so I wasn't disappointed at all. Off to Brugge tomorrow in it!!WhatsApp Image 2026-04-30 at 09.17.51 (1).jpeg
