WANTED Recommendations for M sport Steering Wheel retrim ( not Royals)

Wanted
I have sold the Royals wheel to a friend , he knows exactly what he is getting and taken another M Sport that needs a retrim as part exchange. It’s softened the blow and I will now get the part exchanged wheel refurbed and report back when it’s done.

Most decent local car trimmers should be able to do a steering wheel to a good standard, but IME many won't because they are quite difficult to stitch.
I spent most of the Summer looking for a 'local' car upholsterer. There are loads near me but 8 out of 10 didn't want my work, as they can make easy money on just repairs and motorbike seats. One of the two left were eye-wateringly expensive. So I went with the other one. It was hard work but we got there in the end!
Luckily I have a wooden steering wheel for this car, so he didn't have to touch it.

I see that the white stitching is the big problem; it shows up every tiny stitching error like a sore thumb.

After reading this thread, I went out and checked the stitching on both wheels on our (both 2024) Audi and Ford. Neither are perfect TBH, just they are black on black so it isn't noticeable unless you look really, really hard.

Thanks, I have found someone fairly local to me who is similar in price and took the time to explain a few things making comments like, I love doing Z4 wheels & we will make sure you are happy which is a mile away from "look at the road not your steering wheel". They do one wheel at a time, with a waiting list so its certainly not stack em high and rush them out the door either.

I have taken the plunge and joined the waiting list ( good people usually have one in my experience, unless you are lucky and fall on a cancellation) but wont share details until I have the wheel back and can share experience and pictures. My annoyance is that I looked at so many wheels on the show scene that were done by R. I dont expect perfection, but this is so not their usual standard either. I never started this thread to assasinate them either, they have been around a long time, running a business isnt easy and I applaud how they have earned their place in the market with many happy customers. Hopefully it will create choice as we now know of two other companies that can offer the service that are similarly priced.

I am fussy , I will admit, but at least 7 Z friends have seen that steering wheel, people that know me well enough to be able to tell me I am wrong without offence. All of them have turned their nose up at it. Looking forward to creating another post and sharing good experience in the new year. Thanks all for your input, the forum is great!

EE1BD97B-C08A-4E0C-B6F0-31DE178EDA7E.jpegI went with Edge Automotive in the end . I will let the pictures speak for themselves. Steve done the replacement steering wheel ( I sold the other one and took another as part ex) , gear knob, handbrake gaiter , gear lever gaiter, handbrake grip and knee pads.

Very happy with Steve’s attention to detail and how he has managed to bring the perforated leather theme through the car.

Found a bit of time to rebuild the wheel, added mini paddles to accommodate paddle extensions, not sure if they are for me but easily removed if I have a change of heart.IMG_6498.jpeg
